OK.... I kid.... I kid
But seriously.... I view this female gamers thing a non-issue, now I tells you why.
I work in the video game industry and view the demographics all the time. Guess what? There are so many girls playing video games that it doesn't make sense to keep talking about it. It's like talking about how any women can read a book or ride a bike. They are just here. They are not a "part" or a "segment" of the demographic until someone wants to make a calendar or photo-spread for their silly magazine. Girls use computers too, they also attend school, and bathe....just like guys.

My mom a kick-ass gamer >.> people don't believe me when I say it. I used to play all the time too, but now every time I have free time, she's already playing. Kinda sucks, kinda doesn't. Stereotypes are generalizations - they're GENERALLY true, but not always. I mean, come on. I knew a healthy number of guys that suck at gaming more than I suck at flapping my arms and flying off roofs...successfully.

Anyways, I'm a girl, I play video games, I don't care. But at school, I am more or less one of "the guys" at times because I'm with them much more than girls. And most of my friends are guys.

Okay, this is just getting ridiculous.
Believe it or not, women are not just for raising kids and taking care of the home (though I believe that's a perfectly worthy, much-harder-than-most-things profession that is looked down on way too much). I'm in the Air Force, have an online business and am currently selling artwork, producing a novel and working on a professional manga with the intention of publishing it in Japan.
This stereotype that all women do is stay at home and wash dishes all day has to end, it's absolutely retarded and completely impractical. How annoying. I can't believe there are still men that even think that way!
EDIT: And I just realized I was looking a page or two behind the last page, so this is now all null and void... Ignore me, hehe.........

IMHO, most women will never appreciate video games on the levels that me do. They just can't. Yes, I've meet a few female gamers in my life time. Many of them were pretty cool. However, they can never, EVER live up to the same expectation of gaming that I give to most of my male gaming peers. When me and the guys get together for a LAN/CONSOLE party (our ages range from mid-teens to mid forties), we can play through an entire four day weekend, living off of fast food and orange soda. We will have played through every genre at least four times and have slept a little as six hours the entire time. The last group of girls we invited to such an event wanted to call it quits after twelve hours.
So my reply, yes, there are female gamers out there. Yes, they are cool as hell to be around. But no, they will never appreciate gaming on the level that a man will.

I agree with that.. But there are some women who are like that, I'm sure of it..
Btw, isn't that a little obsessive..?

It depends on your idea of obssessive.
It's not like we do it every month or so. We're lucky if we can plan it out to twice a year. It's just basically a group of guys who love video games/anime/manga...etc...
To be honest, it's great feeling of relief being able to sit back and discuss geek-related issues like that every now and again. It grounds to you reality, but reminds you that it's okay to be a little weird by society standards, because there are others out here similar to you. Plus, it's just plain fun.

Actually, thinking back, I'm sure that my friend and I would have done that a few years back if only her mom weren't around. Yes, we're both girls. "Weird" girls.

I'm a girl, and I love to play games, console games that is. I'm not a computer gamer. But once in a while I do play RO online.
And as for playing for 4 days straight [yes, i know it's not you guys obsession, but a gathering once in a while] we do have a life, it gets boring or tiring. I can never play like that, I actually want to sleep and I like to keep my eye sight from getting worser then it already it. Though I'm pretty sure there are females out there that can play like that. It's just a matter of finding them. And remember, everyone has there own view of gaming, whether it's to play for 4 days straight, or just playing a few hours.
