Heh, I wouldn't mind eating humans if it didn't taste like sh**

but I do love animals.

I don't see what's wrong with eating each other, that's how nature is after all.

Global warming. And what chis930421 said:
Quote from chris930421
Therefore, a lot of energy is lost from feeding grain to cattle for example, which would have been more efficient if we were to eat the grain itself. Not to mention there is a problem with diversity, as beef is a big part of where we get our meat we create a monoculture of cattle, check out CAFO's, and we create these huge plants that only house cattle, which is also not very good for the environment.

Because of consumer demand of beef and meat we raise tons and tons of cattle. And their farts cause a third of the world's ethane emissions. That and their poo dirties waterways (no more fresh water =P). And they even cut down forests to create land for the cows to graze. It's more ethical if instead we use that land to plant crops. Add the efficiency of eating the grain itself instead of feeding it to the cattle and we have more food for everyone!

There ya go helps the environment AND helps solve poverty (ok well i dunno about poverty),

But yea, of course I can't do it I like meat, So that's why i find vegans tough ppl to be able to do that... Good job vegans.

Reminds me of prey. The thing that the predator eats as it laughs at it's feeble attempt to survive.

It's cleary pointless to compare human life to animal life. Right and wrong does not exist in the animal world, due to the fact that animals are lacking the ability for logic and reasoning. An animal that eats it's young is neither right or wrong in doing so. A human that does the same is prima facie wrong.

Therefore, the treatment of animals can not be compared to the treatment a human being deserves.

So whether or not it is wrong to kill and animal doesn't matter, for their is no right and wrong when it comes the animal kingdom. There are laws against torture, and laws that protect endangered species, but other than that, animals are expendable.

You seem to misunderstand, I do not think animals should be treated cruelly just because they do not have a similar conscience to human beings. Granted we have the means to survive without eating animals, but that doesn't mean others are at a barbaric level just because they want to. none Haha.

But whatever, each to their own.

I mean... you pretty much said that, according to my logic, if "meat is murder" then we should be putting animals in jail for doing the same thing. Which just seemed a bit far-fetched. XD

I don't think you meant they should be treated cruelly, don't worry. But animals aren't at the same cognitive level as humans, so holding them to the same standards would just be ludicrous. I mean, I know you weren't being serious, but still. *shrugs*

And I didn't mean that people who eat them are barbaric, either. Man, I'm on a roll tonight. *sighs* I simply meant that, as humans, we have the ability to think about these things, and... I intend on thinking about them and acting accordingly.

But everyone comes to different conclusions, so.. like you said, to each their own. *grins*

"Why not eat meat?"

It is a simple question that should not make any party defensive as many in this tread seem to be.

If we do not understand something, we ask for clarification and even if the answer does not change our views on the topic, it hopefully allow us to accept the other's views or at least offers a glimmer of understanding even if you at the end do not in any way agree.

I do not think the original simply put question was meant to convince one group or the other to change their eating choices or habits; nor should be considered a criticism regarding either choice.

By all means express your opinions but also respect other's on this or any matter. State your facts but do not belittle others because they do not agree with your “truth”

Yes, they are those who have an opinion based on ignorance or lack of facts; however the real truth is that they are entitled to their views and opinions even if those are based on utter nonsense. Freedom is a fickle mistress once you think you are the one entitled to curtail where it ends or begins.

Then getting eating! There's no basis for your hypothesis that human tastes like shit. In fact, with psychological conditions like "wendigo psychosis" around, and serial killers who can dispose of bodies by selling them as high quality meat (which usually sold well, btw), there's a good chance human meat is delicious.

I have a strong feeling that human meat would be one of the tastiest meats around, my reason being...

Humans naturally like things healthy for them, many people like nuts, and nuts are among the most healthy things to eat, meat Used to be really good for us, because it wasn't that common to eat, which is why it tastes so damn awesome, and plants of course were just everywhere, they were just like "whatever" I suppose. Now out of all of the meats, which do you think is the most similar to what our bodies want? Obviously, human meat has everything our bodies want, what it's made of fits our bodies needs 100%, so it would be the most nutritious meat, which in turn would probably be the tastiest meal ever.

I wouldn't say that's true in today's world of processed foods.

I agree with you in principle, but I would like to add that excess of everything is bad, if not necessarily unhealthy.

don't start people up on cannibalism... that isn't what this is about...and besides even animal don't eat their own kind normally...though they do kill or beat the living hell out of them for territory or other reasons...

ACTUALLY

Quote
One of Germany's most infamous citizens, the cannibal Armin Meiwes:"The flesh tastes like pork, a little bit more bitter, stronger. It tastes quite good."

Quote
William Buehler Seabrook, a journalist with the New York Times who traveled extensively in West Africa nearly a century ago: "It was like good, fully developed veal, not young, but not yet beef. It was very definitely like that, and it was not like any other meat I had ever tasted. It was so nearly like good, fully developed veal that I think no person with a palate of ordinary, normal sensitiveness could distinguish it from veal. It was mild, good meat with no other sharply defined or highly characteristic taste such as for instance, goat, high game, and pork have."

Quote
there is a certain consistency here - certainly the cannibals themselves seem to have generally considered it closer to pork

The similarity to pork makes sense, don't surgeons use pig skin and innards during certain operations where human isn't available, since it's the closest they can get?
