o_o Plenty of animals and critters out there eat their own kind, sometimes they even mate, then eat their partner, even if it's not part of the "ritual".

Also, meat is pretty healthy to eat as long as you don't eat too much of it, it's better to fill your diet with nuts over meats though. If you're that worried about killing something for food / eating the remains of something that was killed, plants have lives too, although very boring ones. If you are like, one of those vegetarian extremists, check to see if you have any wooden furniture, or make a grave for all the plants you've sacrificed to survive...

lol, just leave you_no_see_me_ alone, he's obviously living in the land of Disney world animals where the wolves and the rabbits are good friends and no rape, no cannibalism, no incest within the animal kingdom.

BUT on a more serious note, although human are omnivore, our intestine track has the characteristic of a herbivore. See lion has short intestine track while cow has long intestine track. We have long intestine track relatively speaking. Also meat molecule tends to become harmful after staying in the intestine too long. For people, 70 percent veggie and 30 percent meat is what you should go for.

I like to eat my steak with some fava beans. TSSS

Anyways, if you want to think about it this way... the lower one feeds trophically, the more energy there will be for every other organism to survive, because the amount of energy loss from one level to the next is 90%. So, when one feeds on the primary level, more life can be sustained on this planet than if one feeds on higher trophic animals such as farm raised carnivorous fish.

I do sometimes wonder if we, as a culture, developed a norm for consumption of human flesh....how different would we be? I mean we already kill, rape, molest each other in the worst possible ways....what's a little cannibalism?

Nonono, to increase the total amount of life on earth, we need to kill EVERYTHING (including us) that doesn't draw energy from the sun or the ground. Then the remaining organisms will spread to cover every inch of the Earth with maximum energy conversion potential! We're aiming for the most possible life right?

No really... how the heck we went from why not eat meat to why not eat each other?

Jeez... I do think that humans are animals in a sense and I am definitely a carnivore half the time, but really... cannibalism? I am not PC most of the time, but even I have lines I do not want to cross. Killing humans may be a necessary evil, but I hope it never comes to be to also have to eat each other.

Humans are just meat. It's only a misconception that we are any different.

So, cannibalism would be a part of "why no meat?"

Cannibalism, especially at the top of the food chain has a lot of repercussions, namely PRIONS. Mad cow disease was a disease that originated from farmers grinding up cow carcasses to feed to...cows. Similarly, such diseases occur when humans eat other humans as well. In some tribes, a family would eat the deceased. Men would get the brain while women would get the muscles, and what ended up happening was a wide-spread disease amongst males because they ingested the brain. Once again, this disease is caused by prions.

well.. thats actually different for each people, for me i would only turn vegan if im having health problems and if its the only way to prevent me from dying.. well, you shouldnt question other people's beliefs! to each his/her own!
