Yeah for chapter coming out early, booh for the fact that there will be no OP next week.
Definitely a great chapter, with great character development. It shows that there is always more to a legend than it initially seems. A very nice way to give meaning and understanding to a flawed hero. Oda just does it again. He can tell a meaningful story and give strong personality to even minor characters in just a few chapters.

Great chapter. Love the backstory. I wonder what the grown-up Koala is up to...

Good job, Oda, good job.
You know, Arlong may be a cold hearted dumbass bastard, but I can't help but feel for him in this chapter. Poor guy.
Also, Borsalino sure smokes a lot in this. I don't think I've seen him light up even once in the current time frame.

Why did I keep thinking that Koala was a boy? Damn these manga and always having dudes look like chicks!
It's pretty fucked up how the villagers sold out Fisher Tiger, even after he personally brought one of them back to the island...

My guess is Koala will grow up to be Jewelry Bonney.

Well, Bonney is from South Blue, according to Blackbeard (check out ch. 595), but Koalla is from the Grand Line. I don't find it likely that she would leave the Grand Line and then come back with a humble "rookie" status despite her 100 million Beri bounty.
Interesting that Fisher Tiger doesn't want it to be known that he was a slave who broke out rather than someone who supposedly climbed the Red Line and then liberated the slaves. I guess he decided his pride was more valuable than his life. That little flashback of Tiger "claiming" a Fishman Island district makes it easy to understand why Jimbei also liked Whitebeard, who pretty much did the same exact thing. Also, given that this fishman doctor Aladdin has been formally introduced, I wonder what Oda has in store for him.

It's pretty easy to understand. They had to choose between Koala and the pirates. If they hadn't made a deal with the government for them to ignore the fact that Koala was once a slave, she would have been returned to the Tenryuubito and become a slave once again. You can't honestly say you wouldn't have done the exact same thing under the circumstances. Oda paints an accurate picture of humanity. We look after our own.

Wow! This chapter was very heavy.
Even though I dislike Arlong for what he did to Nami and her hometown, I kinda took pity on him, and at least understood why he behaves like this (but I still don't have 100% sympathy for him either).
Still, what the villagers did to Tiger, even after he return Koala to them, was unbelievable.
Shame there is no new chapter next week, considering it's Golden Week, but I could trust Oda on what he has in store.
BTW, is it possible that Koala herself might show up sometimes in the future?

Great chapter, but Fish Tiger being sold out wasn't a huge surprise for me... after all, he is a criminal who broke out of jail (or ran away being a slave) and liberated the rest. I also believe it was mentioned be attacked a navy base or something, or I might be making that up.
