Chrono Crusade would have to be my most favorite shounen manga. I like that it discards the need for endless battles for the sake of well-developed characters and a great plot. I wasn't sure at first if I could classify it as shounen, since it lacks the usual shounen "mold" (super-powerful main character, power-ups, and chapter-eating battles) but if it had to be classified, I think shounen would be the proper category. Either way, it's positively amazing. ^^ The other thing I love about it is that it's actually completed.

Holy words. If only there were more shounen like that.

World Embryo would have to be my favorite seinen, and one of the very few I've read. It's by the author of Chrono Crusade, and again, has great art and plot so far. It has a very interesting premise, one that I've never seen in any manga before.

Is it really this good? I'm keeping myself to read it but if it's so good I will take a look at the scans.

Dogs: Bullets & Carnage. It's an awesome series. Pity there are only three volumes so far. </3
My other favorites are Great Teacher Onizuka, Major and Kateikyou Hitman Reborn. :]
[Oh and I'm also a Adachi Mitsuru fan. <3]

A good otaku is open minded and has no room for favorites. Seriously, I can't make up my mind. Pastel is definatly in the top 3 along with Flame of Recca and Tsubasa RC.

I believe naruto and bleach are good mangas too read, but it does get tiring after a while, because it drags on and on.

Lament of the Lamb
Halucination from the womb
Dragon head
Confessions

I believe these titles should recieve some credit, you can look at my lists (when i update them) for more titles.

Eyeshield 21 is the only shounen series which I've stuck with. In my opinions, it is a well-written shounen series with a good plot and likeable (as well as well-developed) characters.

Aside from ES21, Kekkaishi is also a very good series. I like that it doesn't have too many characters, hence it can focus on developing the main character as well as its plot. It also does not suffer from the formulaic setup of most shounen manga.

Other shounen series which I think deserves a thumbs-up:
- Rookies
- Slam Dunk

Blaspheme.

I would say Basalisk and maybe Ninja Scroll, or GTO.

Midori no Hibi deserves to be more famous, imo...

Love Hina deserves it, as well.

Well if you're talking about traditonal shounens, I'd say Rebirth Violinist of Hameln Crescent Moon D.Gray-man (up until the seemingly-neverening battle lately...) Fairy Tail
I'm talking about slightly cliche` series in here, but it's the type that feels more like a classic smile and it's extremely enjoyable to read (VoH and Rebirth contain some tragedy but oh well..

And if we're not talking about what I see as typical shounens, I'd say Aqua. If it's not shounen, my apologies. I have NO idea what to classify it as except for one of the most simple and beautiful mangas I can remember.

+2 on Midori.

Love Hina is good the first read through, but it's not the kind of manga I desire to read again.

Naruto does not deserve its popularity, but its definitely not bad. Same with Bleach.
Favorite Shonen manga would probably be Hajime no Ippo (Slam Dunk, GTO and BECK in close second/third/fourth in not necessarily that order).

For senien, Ichi the Killer, Vagabond (Berserk is good too).

biggrin
On a side note, i thought Death Note did one of the bigger shark jumps i have ever seen around 1/2 way through
Spoiler (highlight to view)
when L died, series died. and it honestly was only ok to begin with. and sweet jesus the anime was terrible. what was with that epic pen movements lol godawful.

Yeah, I definitely agree what you said about Naruto and all the shounen masterpiece you've mentioned. However, I'd love to add Rokudenashi Blues into this category too... Everyone knows that Vagabond and Berserk are brilliant, though haven't read Ichi the Killer yet... Anyways, I've just gone through 3 1/2 volumes of Historie last night, strongly recommend... From my point of view, it has high potential to be one great seinen...

No offense but Midori no Hibi was totally lame...
