i looking for the stories "Antigone" "The Odyssey" and " The Old Man and the Sea" retold in manga or anime form!
the characters don't have to have the same names, they can even be in different settings, as long as the central plot is similar to the original epics. besides hentai + guro, genre does not matter.
An example is Yume no Yume http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=4823
it gives the basics of the Epic of Gilgamesh (with some flourishes)
any other (classic) stories would be appreciated as well!

Phew, I searched, but couldn't find something like Antigone or Odyssey. I'd be intersted in that too^^ and maybe I've just missed them...
however i hope I can help with this one. We have a category named Based on a Classic. You might find something here. Well, I can understand if you don't have the nerve to check over hundred series pages, so ...
I've found these: (but haven't read them, yet, so I'm not too sure if they fit so much...)
Dante Shinkyoku -> the divine comedy
Gankutsuou -> The Count of Monte Cristo (in a SCiFi-version?? -.- WTF )
And those are adaptations to fairy tales. There are many more, but from my experience they often bring up different aspects of the original story line and advance the story to an other point than what you might know from the classic. They are still pretty good, I think^^
Grimms Manga
Ludwig Kakumei
I've also found the Phantom of the Opera and the Legend of the Nibelungenring. However they have not been scanlated yet, so they won't help you, will they?

Otomo Katsuhiro did a surreal take on The Old Man and the Sea in his short story collection Memories of Her....
The only scanlations available are in Spanish, unfortunately. It was translated into English and published by Epic Comics and Random House in 1992, but you'll have a real hard time tracking that down, I know from experience!

How about taking a look through this topic? There's a lot of titles -- most of them with descriptions and the readers' thoughts.

It's called
Ulysses 31 It's an animated version of the Odyssey but in a SiFi setting!
Yayyy! Only two more to go!
