Will probably check some anime forum for this, but recently I've felt like I've depleted my personal knowledge of good anime/anime movie and am reduced to rewatching. What are some anime/movies you think are really worth your time.
Someones I liked were:
Mushishi, Samurai Champloo, Samurai X, Kino's Journey, Deathnote, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Honey and Clover(1&2), Ghost in the Shell, Haibane Renmei, XXX Holic, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Metropolis, Steamboy, Magnetic Rose, Akira, Millenium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, anything else Satoshi Kon, anything Miyazaki, Whisper of the Heart, Pom Poko (and other Ghibli out there), Summer Wars, 5 cm per Sec, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, etc.
Currently craving a psychological thriller or historically based anime...but anything's fine!

Hmm... I don't know about thought-provoking, but I enjoyed these as well as a number of series you mentioned in your opening post:
Natsume Yuujinchou (there's a 3rd season coming out this year!!)
Spice and Wolf (I wonder if they'll make a 3rd season...)
House of Five Leaves - neat, short... no action... but lots of character development.
Fruits Basket (though I prefer the manga for completeness)
Oh... psychological thriller?!??!!! Eden of the East was awesome... I think you can just stop at the 11 episodes... the movie follow-ups (in my opinion) were just okay... not "zOMG! WHAT'S GOING ON!?" like the anime.

Ooh, and if you wanna try a manga like that, go for this one:

This is one manga you CANNOT miss

Dunno how you take it...but to me, Arjuna is quite thought provoking. Key words: Earth sympathy, Why do you kill?
