Truthfully, there is no exact way to be a "perfect boyfriend." I love mine, but he's a bit obnoxious at times. I can be too. The thing that makes him so wonderful is he understands me and accepts the insane me. And I do the same for him. smile wink grin

Well, I'll be a failure of a boyfriend.. x]]
Haha.. Any who, putting that aside, I suppose since I'm replying I might as well chip in with my answer..

Become someone who is there for her, someone who will listen to her, someone she can talk to, someone she can trust and confide in.. And from that learn what it is she wants or needs from you.

Perfect boyfriend... No such thing llike some people have previously mentioned, but here's my point of view on it.

1. Don't become her 'everything'. Sounds dumb, but if you do become it, the moment you aren't there for her, depending on the girl, problems could and most likely will occur.

2. Yes listen to her, empathize with her, everything, especially with the problems that she has going, but never forget... there's a second side to the story or something she hasn't told. Another thing that sounds dumb, but really... making sure she doesn't act like a damsel in distress helps a lot with building independence between you both. (unless if the damsel in distress is the type of girl you like, you many avoid this~)

3. Don't plan a date every second day... make one once every 2-3 weeks... that way you both don't get tired of each other so quickly, and it's something to look forward to.

4. Be romantic, spontaneous, whatever, just do it well~ If you mess up, take it like a man, admit you messed up, and continue on like nothing happened. This also should give you something to talk about if it's a big enough mess up. bigrazz

This is coming from a guy who deals with many relationships... and I'll be honest, the longer ones I know follow somewhere along the points above.

There probably isn't such a thing but here's some things I liked on previous dates:
- laughing it off, it's cute when a guy doesn't get hung up over mistakes
- being a little commanding, taking the lead sometimes in a casual/nice way
- being a fun conversationalist, noticing small things and relating them back to current events/arts& culture, etc.
- sexually playful, holding back more but keeping it tense

Things that really backfire:
- Asking too many questions: "lets go out on saturday." > "can we go out on saturday?"
- Trying too hard, I like it when a guy has quirks/flaws so I get bored when he tries too hard to become some generic male lover

Besides that, every girl's different and has their own type. I personally prefer guys that are more articulate & independent, but one of my friends loves professional med school types I don't really care for. Hope this helps! :3

There's no such thing. Period. People are human, and humans make mistakes, so there's no way to be "the perfect boyfriend".

>_< So very true.

But I'm a little pickier then just that. I personally like men with big shoulders, flat stomachs and blue eyes.
But if the loving isn't good then there is a chance to earn bonus points by compliments, money, getting you stuff you want, taking you out on dates and doing something fun/cool, cool pad, having a good personality (this depends on the person), smell good/clean, well dressed and over all good looking.

Discourage separation anxiety the same way you would with a dog.
Saying you "like them" more often than "love them" - it will look like you're improving & give them an "Awww, he LOVES me!" moment. Use this moment of bliss wisely.

Perfect for one person is different from another persons perfect. Some one might like the clingy type, while i hate it. Everyone is different so there cant be one uniform perfect. Unless you are from a shoujo. But your not.

The only thing my dad taught me about women is to be fair with them.

Is there anything in this world that is perfect anyway?
If you put too much emphasis on acting a boyfriend,
you neglect your own personality. Does your lover love you
or the role you are trying to fit into?

I might not be a perfect boyfriend, I'd never aim to either.
Boyfriend is a secondary characteristic, if even that.
Sure my looks aren't half that bad, I sound like a man
and pack enough intellect to not be just a doormat,
but my personality is unyielding and if you like being praised,
you are going to be let down. But if you do like to be verbally abused
for my own entertainment, don't take yourself or anything too seriously,
are not a clean freak and can endure a devil's advocate, you might just be able to survive.

That said, being a perfect lover isn't about being the ace of everything,
but being a person who can get along with the less easy parts
and finding the unsung parts of the other one.

a perfect boyfriend is
Interested in everything the girl thinks is interesting
he have to like her parents even if they are assholes
he must be ok with the fact that she pretty much hate his parents
he must like her friends
he must stop spending time with his old friends
doing something on his own is out of the question

and unless he contemplaites suicide once every week
he is not being a perfect boyfriend
