I am a yaoi and shounen-ai fan. I've read so much already.
Actually I never tried to read shoujo,josie,shounen,seinen and the other genres.
I just like yaoi,but that's why I wanna read something different.
I wasn't sure if I should've placed this in the shoujo/josei or shounen/seinen.
So,if you could help me out^^

I'd like to read something that's about :

-Being deaf,blind or other disabilities
-Being homeless,poor,no place to go to
-Being a drug addict,or alcoholist,other addictions
-Having a dark secret
-Tramatic pasts
-Illnesses,about to die because of something
-Being sick in the head
-Animals
-Anorexia,weight loss,something like that
-Self-harm
-Being suicidal

I think those things are all kind of Angst
If you know other kinds of manga's that I would like,just tell me^^

That's the spirit! You shouldn't restrict yourself to just one thing, or else you'll get sick of it pretty soon --. especially with a repetitive genre like BL (not that I don't like it...)

Disability - Helen ESP. But it isn't angsty - very positive and cheerful.

Homeless, poor - Tekkonkinkreet (oh boy ~ so much craziness in this one!) , Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa (don't be put off by the art; this is so very touching)

Addictions - NHK ni Youkoso! I guess. I haven't read it, though.

Imminent death - Dear Friends. Rather heavy on the drama and tragedy, but still touching.

Animals - Chii's Sweet Home, Eien no With, Inu o Kau, Deep Love - Pao no Monogatari, Animal Sense, Piku Piku Sentarou Selection: Funwari Haru no Maki, Itou Junji no Neko Nikki: Yon & Mu (Can you tell I really love animals?)

I don't wanna stray away from yaoi,because I love it so much! But I've read so many and the categories that i want for shoujo and stuff,are also the categories I like in yaoi. But i can't find any anymore

I second Kuroshitsuji (dark secret, traumatic past). The mangaka also draws yaoi, and you can see hints of it in her style, so you'll probably find it easier to read through.

Life - self-harm

Full Moon wo Sagashite - dark secrets, traumatic pasts, illness, suicide

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Onikakushihen (and related series) - dark secrets, traumatic pasts, sick in the head, self-harm

kingyo sou this is a great love story about being deaf. I like it because it's original.
socrates in love this is a very moving love story about dealing with cancer.
onani master kurosawa best dark secret ever. such a great manga with perfect character growth rarely seen in magna
Nineteen, TwentyOne An all in color love story about animals and a girl involved in a car accident
A song to the sun another excellent one about a girl who has a peculiar illness.
limited lovers i didnt really like this but it's about a disabled character

MARS was the one that made me like shoujo, you should try it too - it has the dark secrets, the trauma - you name it.
