I've never heard of it before and I doubt it'd be available where I live. I might try some if I come across it, probably the coconut or strawberry.

I think it's funny that people assume that just because the word "tea" is in it it tastes anything like tea.

I'm not a tea drinker so I don't like bubble tea very much. It's far from real tea but I still don't like the little bit of tea that's in it. I only drink it sometimes for the pearls. The flavor I like the most is taro or coconut.

Heh, my favorite is the only real bubble tea. The one can order by asking for pearl tea in (real) Chinese restaurants (the kind that only has Chinese people eating there).

It's black tea (Usually Jasmine, I believe) with milk and tapioca bubbles.

Unfortunately, the other kinds of bubble tea aren't exactly real bubble tea to me. It doesn't help that they became popular much after I've real bubble tea (pearl tea).

How can you be a proper otaku and not know of bubble tea? XD
It's sold all over the place in much of Asia and it's gaining popularity here in the states.

My favorite would have to be plain black tea. It's supposed to be tea, after all. All the rest tend to be too sweet. But I definitely don't like jasmine tea flavor. It tastes like cheap perfume. dead

I don't like sago, though. It's the same idea but it's even sweeter and it tastes weirder.

By the way, bubble tea has nothing to do with being an otaku. I had my first bubble/pearl tea when I was 5. (I didn't even know what anime was back then.)

Besides, a lot of people that don't even know anime love bubble tea (the ones with exotic/artificial flavors).

I don't have no favorite tea flavor because I hate tea. I never even heard of the tea you all talking about. dead

i hate bubble tea. its just too different from traditional tea which i am a huge fan of

I mostly agree... I don't like the starwberry, melon, pineapple, etc. bubble 'teas' but I know of a place which has options of tea and the tapioca pearl (hot, cold, or slush).

Also, Hibiscus Spice Black bubble tea holds a special place in my heart. It's really different from teas to which I am accustomed --- but it's good!

Do try it; it's delicious smile. And as Shirohane said, go to a real Chinese restaurant (or maybe even a legit Chinese bubble tea stand). A stand opened up at a shopping mall near from my home and it's absolutely horrible. Not only can I make it(and better too!) for $4 cheaper at my own home, but it's not bubble tea at all!

I tried Ube-flavored and Buko Pandan-flavored (which are sweet yam and green coconut, respectively) recently and they were REALLY good. Yet, my favorite still has to be the original black tea.
