What is the best way to translate a dialect or accent of the original language that is not the norm (e.g., Kansai-ben)?
Different country's English accent (e.g., Irish or Australian)
Different American regional accent (e.g., Southern)
Have the character use different slang (e.g., 'pops' instead of 'dad')
Minor speech pattern differences (e.g., dropping the 'g' in '-ing' words)
No difference in translation but have a translation note

I'm looking for captivating and memorable one shots.
Something along the lines of Ando Yuki's work Matryoshka and Akai Michi.
I want something that will make me think about it, but at the same time be able to recall it after a few weeks.
Something that is warmhearted and able to capture my interest.

I don't want anything disgusting like smut or hentai etc.
Just a simple oneshot.

A compilation of really good one-shots is good too biggrin

If you haven't done so already, you should check out the rest of ANDO Yuki's oneshots as well.

you may also enjoy oneshots by Matsumoto Tomo. for example:
Koi (MATSUMOTO Tomo)

oh, and any yumeka sumomo collection of oneshots (nanairo sekai springs to mind).

For now, Kanojo no Namida ga Yuki da Toshitara is the best oneshot I`ve ever read,
and the 1st story of Yumenara Samenaide smile

I second YUMEKA Sumomo -- Bus Hashiru and Nanairo Sekai are a must.

NAKAMURA Asumiko has amazing one-shots too -- I Am a Piano, [A Perfect World (NAKAMURA Asumiko)], Till Dawn and The Bedroom Girl, The Sculpture Room Girl.

Second Yumeka Sumomo and Nakamura Asumiko. I Am a Piano particularly is awesome.

Kara no Shounen was particularly good.

And the Arcana Anthology has a lot of short stories under various themes (I recommend anything by Kayase Shiki )

I've read kara no shounen, i am a piano, nanairo sekai, bus hashiru, anya kouro, toumei sekai, kanajo no namida ga yuki da toshitara, and koi.
Sorry , i've read a lot of one-shots. But I'll check out the others that i haven't read !
