ok its been a long time since my last thread in the "im looking for" forum

i have 2 requests:

1- i want a manga which deals with unrequited love in a realistic way
i dont care about the genre as long as there isnt an ecchi or fanservice overdose, after all im asking for something realistic and in real life u dont see panty shots every 2 sec
it can be gl,bl,shoujo, shounen, josie, seinen etc. it doesnt matter it just has to be realistic
THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS:i dont want anything extreme in the characters...like no drop dead gorgeous or super dense or stuckup bastard type of character
characters can be a little cold but not super cold
can be pretty but not drop dead gorgeous
can be a little dense but nothing too extreme
that means i DONT want something like strobe edge the guy was super perfect and the girl fell in love with him for no apparent reason...i thought the manga was too shallow so i dont want anything like that
OH and i dont care wether they do end up with love interest or not
EXAMPLES:
narration in seventeen
the end of youth-this was brilliant!

2-i want an anime where one of the characters(could be a secondary character ,as long as they get enough screen time all is fine) is a violinist
ofcourse the violin pieces played by the character should be awesome biggrin
examples of what i DONT want:
la corda d'oro dont expect me to watch something with a stupid plot like that

1. Realistic take on unrequited love
Honey and Clover (The anime adaptation is really REALLY awesome.)
Not Simple -- you're okay with drama, right? This is a really good story in general.
Mars no Kiss is a pretty interesting take on "love"... there are some adult scenes, but it dissolves in the end.

Nana
Paradise Kiss
Yazawa Ai's mangas are mostly realistic. Shoujo mangas are full of unrequited love laugh (shoujo's cliques laugh )

it didnt seem promising so i dropped it
should i pick it up again?does the story get better or does this mean i wont enjoy the whole thing

For the first request i recommend Suzuka. I haven't read the manga only watched the anime but I'm positive that it fits. Another one is GE - Good Ending but only in the begining so I'm not sure if this one fits.

For the second request only thing that comes to mind is ef - a tale of melodies. You can read a review on the following link: http://myanimelist.net/anime/4789/ef_-_a_tale_of_melodies.

As far as I remember it isn't that bad and it is quite serious in the plot no stupid panty shots and the "waaaah ecchi!" *smack* kind of stuf. My opinion is that you must think perverted to consider most of the situations like that.

For the 1'st request; Blue, Claudine...!, Gold Rush 21, Pokerface, The Love Letter, Orange Sweet Olive Blossoms, most of the stories in Yozora no Ouji to Asayake no Hime and Otome Cake.

For both 1'st & 2'nd, to a lesser degree (since the violin bit is only at the beginning and the unrequited love is not really directed towards the protagonist, despite being one of the major themes as far as relationships go); Golden Days.

For the 2nd; 101 Hitome no Alice , Hameln no Violin Hiki.

Do it. Nodame Cantabile is amazing. The music really gets me, and there are plenty of violinists (not to mention the main male lead). biggrin Plus it's a bit of unrequited love at first

No worries. I had the same thoughts... I seriously thought of dropping the series after watching the first 2-3 episodes. But it turns out that those episodes were just introductions to the characters in the story. It gets more slice-of-lifey/serious as the story progresses. I really do recommend it.

I second Honey and Clover. I did the same thing. The only reason I stuck with it was because I loved the art style. But you need to watch at least 3 episodes. It gets really really good. It is in my favourites now. And what lovely characters. It is the anime to watch for unrequited love.

Wow so you haven't seen Nodame or Honey and Clover. You are so lucky! Go and watch them now. They are two of the best shows in the genre.

No, there isn't that MUCH ecchi. In the beginning of the manga there are naked girls, but that's it. After a little bit, the ecchi factor is basically nonexistent. I seriously don't know why there even is a harem tag on Suzuka.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The story focuses MAINLY on Suzuka and Yamato. Honoka does hook up with Yamato, but that is a short-lived romance. After that, Honoka sorta gives up on Yamato and goes into the idol business. Other then that, there are no other REAL rivals for Suzuka in Yamato's heart.

The anime only covers about HALF of the manga. After the anime, that's where the real drama begins for Suzuka and Yamato. I could go on forever about Suzuka and how my heart was being messed with(because of all the sad/happy things that happen after the anime), but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to read a HUGE wall of text. (I am a HUGE fan of Suzuka!!)

I'm going to warn you now, Suzuka may be a bit of a bitch(at least to some people). but I would have to say that it just enhances her personality. Just look at some comments on the Suzuka main page.

P.S. If you like love-dramas/emotional rollercoasters of love, I strongly suggest Suzuka! :3

I got nothing for the first one. (romance has been irritating me in the recent years) But if you don't mind older series with some fantasy thrown in, The Violinist of Hamelin might fit your second one. ^^
