I live in Philadelphia, PA and I love love love manga with all my heart, but no one I know likes it. I might find a person who likes naruto or bleach (adult swim anime) because they watched it one or two times, but nothing close to how I feel. Also if you don't know most parts of Philadelphia are bad I happen to live in the really bad part, and if people think you're weird because you like something other than what everyone else likes, there will be drama. I actually get into fights often because people will see me reading a manga and think it's ok to mess with me (it's not and they find that out later on). All for the sake of manga I have lots of drama but I don't mind. Actually I enjoy all the attention and action but, I wish I had at least one person that I could share my opinion with and vice verse. So what I getting at, I shared my situation as an otaku, What's yours? do you have people you can talk to?

my brother only knows about the ones that air on tv(one piece, naruto, dragon ball etc)
but he doesnt care about them...except one piece maybe(but that was years ago,he doesnt watch one piece anymore)
i told him about mangas before and he tried reading one but he wasnt interested
but atleast he would have an idea of what im talking about if i tell him about a manga

others...only know of the ones that air on tv too
but they dont know that these are japanese animations

so...the only one i actually discuss anime and manga with is my brother...mostly i just summarize the manga to him and he tells me what he thinks of it
i know 2 girls who watch a little anime but theyre not into the ones i like and they have no idea what manga is

edit : btw whenever my friends hear me talking about manga or anime they start shouting "hiroshima boom boom" lol

I have a few friends that enjoy manga as much as I do, so we talk about it sometimes. But they're fangirls and like series/genres that I'm not particularly interested in and vice versa, so it's never serious conversations, just teasing each other about our preferences laugh

Other than them, I don't really have anyone else that's interested. None of my family care and none of my other friends are interested (although they know I read/watch it)

Not really. I have one friend who's into it, but we like different genres so it's nothing in-depth. Really wish I knew more people who were into the kinds of things I am.

Haha in my class almost everyone likes manga and anime. But they don't have the same taste as me, so it's kinda hard to talk about it. And they talk mostly about yaoi/BL (which I like, but not as much as them) and I wish there were guys in my class because they would probably have the same taste as me. (My class only have girls) Ugh. And then there is alot more people who love/like manga/anime in my school but I don't talk to them so... Yeah. But I have three other friends who likes the same type of manga as me, so I shouldn't complain. Haha. Oh and my little sister likes anime/manga too because of me. But she only reads/watch Naruto.

laugh

Only one of my friends watches anime ("OP, Naruto and Bleach are teh best111!!!" mentality), the rest of them find manga/anime childish ("You watch pokemanz!!!??" mentality). *shrugs*

Sometimes, with online friends. Rarely with some family members.

i don't have anyone to talk to about it sad
i have a friend who's into manga and anime but she tends to talk over me so it's kinda hard to voice my views,
and if i do end up talking about it with someone, it feels like they're not listening or just not interested so i don't bother anymore lol smile

Wow so I'm not alone is there really that few people who really like anime and manga. I don't now if this my help or not but sometimes I force my mom to listen to what I have to say, I know it's kinda lame but she forces herself to listen because she loves me. Are there any anime/manga outlets that you use to calm the passion for you interests and opinions about anime and manga?

Hmm, this thread kind of reminds me of the "does anyone know you read manga" one...
But I think I'll leave it be for now.

Anyways, I have my online friends from MU.
We obviously share the same hobby, so we can talk about it.
Other than that, I sometimes tell my mother about various yaoi plots,
excluding the mentioning of smut.
And I bother my best friend with it sometimes.
I don't know why, but I've never felt the urge to talk about it with people.
Over the years, I've grown to accept that my taste is not exactly what you'd call widely accepted or mainstream (in things like books, music, films - basically any form of entertainment), so I just keep the excitement to myself and the people I've mentioned above.

When I do talk about it (or anything) I tend to go on and on if I'm passionate about the subject.
Not to walls though... The person should at least know what I'm talking about. ;p

you're right, I guess the novalty hasn't worn off manga yet for me since i got into it like a year ago ( but not anime, that's been going on for about two years). Sometimes i just think that if people just gave it a real chance that they would find the type they really like.
