Something like Hoshi no Samidare... its hard to bring upp any specific aspects of it without bringing it in the wrong direction or just choose one good aspect of it, though one key point would be some creative use of old cliches. Someone mentioned Bokura no Kiseki, i wouldent put it together with the first mentioned as i havent read enuf to se how it difreiates itself.

well Sengoku Youko done by the same author and its quite good too

I'd say Angel Densetsu gives off a similar feeling... but I can't exactly say why...
