I've begun to feel that if you've read one manga then you've read 90% of the other manga as well. Not that i don't enjoy reading manga, i really do. I've been reading series Hoshi no Samidare and Yubisaki Milk Tea which i really enjoyed. I enjoyed D-ASH as well. But when i just started reading manga i'm sure i would have disliked it. I enjoyed series like Omamori Himari as well, at least in the beginning, but i feel the days where i could enjoy the ecchi harem fanservice generic manga are slowly, but surely, fading away... So i've begun looking for manga with more... mature, i think, content. When i say mature i don't necessarily mean sexual (but i don't mind it roll eyes ). I'm just looking for a deeper story with character development and characters you can relate to. Doesn't have to be on earth, or anywhere else for that sake. The characters don't have to be humans or anything. I just want something that'll give me a good read and make me feel good, or bad for that sake. Just something that proves that i haven't read all the manga out there already. Because that would be really sad cry

I've taken a look at your lists and it seems that you haven't read Fruits Basket - in my opinion it's an ideal example of "deeper story with character development and characters you can relate to" ^^
Also the fantasy series Reimei no Arcana gives this more mature vibe.

if you are looking for that kind of stuff try seinen... They have much more serious stories with lots of character development. One that I liked is Vinland Saga. It is such a good read even though it has a lot of gore.

I've found these stories pretty unique, with very compelling characters.

Adventure

Vinland Saga - Seconded! Excellent character development. Thorfinn is a fascinating character.

Monster - Excellent story about a doctor hunting down a man he once saved.

Shingeki no Kyojin - About the remnents of mankind defending themselves against giants. The giants are very compelling monsters and the fight scenes are grim.

Survival

7 Seeds - This manga is amazing. An excellent survival story with compelling and complicated characters. Gets exponentially better after the first volume. I highly recommend getting to the winter arc.

Kanojo o Mamoru 51 no Houhou - About two people trying to survive when a natural disaster strikes Tokyo. Definitely has a more realistic feel.

Thanks for your fast replies. Some of these series i've already read (or tried to... guess i'll try again) like Fruits Basket, Reimei no Arcana and Shingeki no Kyojin (i really like Shingeki no Kyojin biggrin ) but i'm thankfull for your recommendations and i'll try Vinland Saga and some of the other series i've seen but for some reason not yet read, like Monster. Thanks smile wink grin i appreciate it.

for some reason, when i see the word mature, Genshiken comes to mind...
maybe something is wrong with my head

maybe you can try something like Aishiteruze Baby , Bitter Virgin or Adult's Problem for something mature and deep. if you want something more deep, try [m]Deep Love[/m] or Confidential Confessions

immortal rain was one of my favorites in the "mature" manga genre.
others off the top of my head might be aria, emma, and children of the sea

I liked these manga series:
Battle Angel Alita - The sequel, Last Order, isn't as well done as the prequel though.
Cross Game - It isn't very mature, but I love how Adachi did this series.
Heptagon - It's a bit short, but it's a great read.
Double House - Another short manga

I just finished Kanojo o Mamoru 51 no Houhou and i liked it a lot. I don't usually like survival because of the way the average person turns into a villian which unsettles me. But i guess reading something different was part of what i asked for so thanks. I'll be sure to read the rest of the recommendations as well. There are many interesting, though there are turn-offs as well like the josei and shounen-ai, but i'll check them out anyway. I might enjoy them as i haven't really read them before.
BTW i also read finished River's Edge which was... i enjoyed reading it but i don't know if i understod it properly.
biggrin Thanks for the great recommendations!

historie--348 people voted 10!
it's a historical fiction based on ancient greece with none of the typical manga cliches/bs. The realism and plto development is like that of a well-written book, but it's manga! There's occasional tits but don't count on them to get your wack on.

Characters include King Philip of Macedon, Aristotle, and Prince Alexander. It follows the tale of Eumenes, a brilliant non-greek engineer/tactician, who eventually comes under the employ of King Philip of Macedon. The manga starts with Eumenes as an early teen and progresses through his life.

PS: THERE'S ACTION and strategic planning
