Generally speaking, I enjoy glancing at the Latest Topics section on the B-U main page. However, today I nearly spit coffee on my keyboard when I saw the following thread title from Adult (18+) listed there as well: A underwater Blowjob... I'm amazed

I enjoy the Adult (18+) forum, and I appreciate the administrators of this site being open-minded enough to allow it. However, much of the content is NSFW, and I think the option to view it should be up to the sole discretion of the Baka Updates users. I'm sure there are people who frequent this site that would not appreciate seeing that thread topic featured prominently on the front page. There are also people, like myself, who visit B-U while at work and would be disciplined if caught with something like that on their screen. Having those topics included in the Latest Topics list on the mainpage makes every visitor to the site an involuntary viewer of that material.

Clearly, I think thread topics within Adult (18+) should be excluded from the Latest Topics section on the main page. This would allow patrons of that part of the forum to still enjoy their freedoms while allowing Baka-Updates to still enjoy a wholesome (not seedy) image, at least on the main page smile wink grin

And not spit their coffee out laugh Yea.. I saw that to.. I actually laughed at it though.. cause.. yea, I don't know :/ I can agree with that though.. Some people are.. well, I can't think of a word right now (running on zero sleep at the moment.. :/ ) but it would probably make some people happy. Though, it doesn't bother me.. but, eh, whatever..

hey, wait a minute, why are you on BU at work...? o.o;;;

hahahah ;D i kid, i kid... but, meh, I think it's okay. It could be an option, but mostly, you're not doing anything that's really *that* bad at work. i doubt you can be disciplined for every small thing on your computer... esp since every google search turns up some kind of pornographic text or material. ~_~;;;

Well, some people don't want to see thread titles from the adult section, but there are also some who wouldn't want having to open that section just to check if there are any new threads. It's a quite popular section, lol.

The solution I think of : an option in members control panel, if to display those threads or not.
But The Father here is busy.

Yeah, when I saw that.. I was like.. o.O I mean, to have such an explicit thread name.. laugh At least, use different words for it.. So that it doesn't look as appalling to some people..

Yeah, while I can just choose to ignore it, I would prefer having an option where we can turn it off from showing up in the news page, as some topic titles from there don't make me feel comfortable. (especially that topic in question) I don't mind hentai and stuff being discussed, and I can choose to ignore it anyway, but that topic title was just too explicit, right in the front page, AND it provided a link to a pornographic site.

Anyway It's just a feature that's not absolutely necessary, but it would be nice to have.

I would like an option to turn it on, because i prefer that it'd be turned off by default.

I would be satisfied with making it an option on a user-by-user basis, as opposed to removing it altogether. However, then the site admins would be obligated to make sure such an option was well-known so that people who wished to use something like that would know it was there.

I'm imagining a News Post like this...

"Don't want thread titles about Blowjobs / Incest / Japanese Goat Sex on your main page? Be sure to check the No Adult Thread Updates box in your control panel!"

;)

I can't understand the urgency... Who's looking over your shoulder close enough that they can read 12-point-font?

Unless you've got some ultra-low resolution monitor, I'd be more worried about getting weird looks for looking at an anime website...

I think he has got a point.
I personally don't mind but some people do...
Like mentioned above a few times, the best option would be a button in User CP to turn it on and off.

I do read the newest posts on the main page, and I prefer not to see 18+ topics, because I don't go to that forum. For those of us under 18/who don't want to see it, could you please make it a user controlled feature?

I wholeheartedly support this suggestion. In fact, I was considering suggesting it myself some days back, when for awhile the entire front page was all adult topics. It's a little embarrassing, trying to tell your friends what a great and useful site this is, then the first thing they see is all this nasty crap.
