I started reading mangas because of Air Gears. I thought it was a cool concept and wanted to see how the story was beyond what I saw in the anime. But in general, I feel the qualities of anime that are coming out recently are just not up to par to the anime in the past. Stories in these new series are so generic, uninspiring, and so much fanservice. Yes I am actually against seeing constant random and pointless ecchi scenes even though I am a guy, lol. After Code Geass and FMA: Brotherhood, my interest in anime is on a steady decline... none

Yeah I originally just watched anime and didn't really know about manga, but like you wanted to read on in the story. Now I cant watch anime just because i get bored but thats the same for all TV i find.

Yeah, I used to watch a load of anime, especially the new ones at the time. Now all I do is just watch movies, and maybe one or two shows a season.

yeah I know what you mean after I got into manga all other shows american or japanese crumbled in comparison, though there are still a few the catch my interest. A few show might catch my interest, but It's not like before (I was a heavy j-drama and tv drama watcher). Does anyone else admit to being addicted to manga?

i used to be an anime maniac but not anymore. There are two reasons for that. First reason is because i dont have a lot of free time anymore. Second reason is because there is not that many series interest me in the recent seasons. Even so im looking forward to this new season since there are some anime that should be good...planning on watching Fate/Zero, Zero no Tsukaima last season, Guilty Crown, and maybe the New Prince of Tennis.

You know, I sort of feel the same way. I've basically been addicted to anime/manga all my life, but didn't really have too much accessibility to it up until around the end of highschool. And so all of high school and my university undergrad years, I was very much into anime, then slowly I got more into manga, and then my interest also broadened to Asian pop culture such as Korean and Japanese dramas and music. While I'm still really into the music, my interest in anime and manga has dwindled a little. I mean I still keep up with the series that I started, but it's been a while since I've done a marathon or something. And I think the biggest factor is time and school. Higher education = more stress, and so I find I just don't have the patience for it as much anymore. I think I just something that grabs me right away for me to watch it, where as before, I would give it a few episodes, or a few volumes before I'd chuck it, you know?

However, that being said, I have been watching Ao No Exorcist lately, and that's been a lot of fun, so I know that I haven't completely fizzled out yet bigrazz

Is it common for people to stop being interested in manga (fully), ect.? Has this happened to anyone that you know? I hope not, I never want to let go of my otaku life.

I don't know, exactly the answer to your question because I myself don't know very many people who are into manga. But I think at some point, when you exhaust the genre(s) you're most interested in, you start to kinda lose interest a little, but its something (at least for me) that happens in phases. I can spend hours reading manga when I have absolutely nothing to do. It's like a back up, ingrained, entertainment habit I've built over the years. But I guess it depends on the person too.

haha i so, so agree. my otaku-ness is way too big a part of my life and personality for me to let it go.
i'm sure that in 20 years time when i'm nearing 40 and having kids i'll still be as obsessed with anime/manga/japanese pop. culture and everything

i'm going to be one embarrassing parent cool

@ susumu99
yeah i totally agree with everything you just said >_>
i'm kind of at the point where i've exausted alot of the main genres of manga that i've been reading and i'm starting to get bored with it..
and it's a habit of mine too. if i have nothing to do (which is most of the time /no social life lol) i end up reading manga without really..realising it O_o

Yeah.. my player's broken, I've got no allowance, and I'm working and studying my ass off... just started college so basically don't have nuff time. Back then my weekly anime dosage is 3 to 4 dvds if each has 12 episodes.

@purplebunny101: wow, you're the fifth person who asked me that. anyway, it's Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. Those two are Neuro and Yako. This one's only a fanart so don't be shocked about the real manga art, kay? It's a pretty good mystery series though, with a demon sadist and psychotic criminals... eyes

Ugh, I haven't posted in forever. or ever, I guess.

You know, when I was younger I was watching anime like crazy, even joining a college anime club. Then I graduated, lost time to my full time job, and got real lazy with looking up interesting things. Then, I discovered a certain website with summaries of the latest lineup, as well as a regularly updated list of anime dvd/BR that I can buy with my newfound moneys.

With these tools, plus an interesting lineup and anime streams, I can safely say that this season I'll be watching more anime than I've been since graduating. biggrin

When I was younger I watched Gundam, DB and DBZ, Zatch Bell, and a few others. But when I started getting into manga, anime was being cut out completely (I'd be lucky to see at least 5 per month) because the manga story is just quicker and the story is better manga wise, not in all cases.

I've lost interest in TV in general, I just sit in front of my laptop all day reading manga or doing university homework...

Anime is a large time commitment.
