狂気, you must be thinking of "smooth sailing." The meaning of that phrase, though, is more like, "it's easy," or "there won't be any problems." Ah, but if you say "it'll be smooth sailing from now on," it sounds like things were dangerous in the past and now they're not, so that might work.

Well after much thinking my friend also suggested that and I suggested "plain sailing" but we still felt like there's one that's got the word "clear" in it with another word somehow related to water. Maybe it's just some uncommon metaphor we're thinking of... But thanks anyways.

My question is about Wizard's First Rule

I began reading it yesterday but the writing seems so childish and confuse, I feel like dropping it now, but I wanted to check if it doesn't get better later.

So, does it?

I've only read the first book, so I can't answer for the sequels, but...no. The writing doesn't get better, at least during the first book.

This somehow manages to be worse than Twilight.
Twilight is not impossible to finish. Wizard's First Rule is.

The problem isn't only in the extremely cliched plot, pseudo mature content , the childish and pseudo deep characters.
It is also in the writing, the characters think like an 10 y/o and express their toughts like an 8 y/o.

Wizard's First Rule is a pseudo book by a pseudo writer, and the fact that the author got rich with it offends me personally.

We rarely see a chart topping bestseller that won the position with good writing. Factoring in the whole "adults reading young-adult literature" phase society seems to be in, you shouldn't expect anything good from a bestseller unless it's a real literary name like David Mitchell or even Safran Foer who sell that well globally, rather than just on the NY times. If an average person even reads, they read garbage, so naturally it's only garbage that sells. The only "real" books that ever seem to be read anymore are the ones that are occasionally made into movies (which tends to be Jane Austin triteness more often than not), and 90% of the people who buy the book never finish it anyway, and instead try to use the movie to fake through conversations about it.

It's really a disturbing phenomenon. Things have gotten to the point that whenever I encounter someone who claims to have read a "real" book it becomes necessary for me to push obscure plot-points until they admit to never having read more than three or four pages of it to begin with.

...I also strongly advocate an avoidance of the prefix "pseudo," just as an aside, because it tends to come across as something closer to vague griping than intelligent criticism. It's a real empty word without examples, after all.

One question, you have an ATI/AMD card? If yes, try Tools->Preferences->Video Settings and uncheck "Use hardware YUV->RGB conversions". If the problems still is there, try updating your drivers and/or VLC to 1.1.11.

I removed the problem with a driver reinstall, so I guess it's a driver issue. A better solution? Start using MPC.
