So...this is a weird one, and I'll try to keep it short, but it's kind of a long story.
Last fall, around the middle/end of September, I started waking up most mornings with 1-2 itchy red bumps very similar to bug bites. They were usually not close together, for example one on my knee & one on my back, though occasionally they'd be closer together. Some days I might have none; I think the most for one day was three. They were rarely on exposed skin (never on my face & only occasionally on hands or neck) and often in places covered by several layers of clothes plus blankets at night- it's chilly at night around here by Sept - so definitely not mosquitoes.
My first thought was "Oh Hell - bedbugs!!" but though I had been traveling, it was at least three weeks between returning from the trip & getting the first "bite", and no one else got any.
Definitely not fleas as the vast majority of the "bites" have been above the knees, & flea bites would be showing up on lower legs.
About a month after they started, they stopped completely. Winter passed. And around the middle of March, they started up again.
I'm still getting 1-2 "bites" most days, still usually spaced far apart, and still no one else is getting "bit". Last night I ended up sleeping in the living room, & still woke up with a couple of horribly itchy bumps, so I'm thinking more & more that it's me having some weird reaction rather than any kind of bug.
Sometimes if I put lotion on, it will stop the itching for hours. Sometimes not. Most of the itchies are still under my clothes (weather is still cool here most days, so long sleeves & long pants most of the time), with an occasional bump on a hand or my neck; I've even had a couple in my armpits. I have noticed a couple seem to develop on or beside a small scratch but mostly not. They don't seem to cluster anywhere, though I did have several (over the course of several days) on one arm.
I've never had any allergies, and this seems really random to be an allergic reaction. I mean, if it was to something I ate, wouldn't it be all over, or at least one big area? And if it was something I touched, it should be in the area that touched whatever's causing the reaction, not one itchy in my armpit & one on my leg, right??
Any ideas?
