Do you think that the masked "Madara" could be Madara's younger brother from the story he told before? Instead he lied and the younger brother took Madara's eyes instead and assumed the identity of Madara.

Perhaps it has something to do with when he released the nine tails on Konoha. Maybe he somehow got caught up in Minato's sealing jutsu and had his souls split and had to take another body. Whose body that is I will not venture to the guess.

I seem to remember that you cannot use the Impure World Resurrection (or whatever it's called) to resurrect someone without their soul. I believe it was explained so that we would know that none of the hokage could be resurrected. After the new chapter, I took this to mean that the man in the mask is not Madara (I guess unless the newly resurrected Madara says "huh, feels like I only have half a soul or something" next chapter...wouldn't that be convenient?).
I've been trying to think of possible identities...it seems like everyone out their has the sharingan, but we know only a handful of Uchiha names. There was the guy that Itachi killed to get his Mangekyo Sharingan (dead), Izuna Uchiha (Madara's brother, dead and no eyes), Sasuke's dad (I'm sure we've heard his name...dead), Obito Uchiha (one eye, crushed...crushed to death). There may be a couple more, but I don't recall any.
I would say no to Obito, because he was a screw-up, who didn't even know how to use his sharingan until right before he died. Sasuke identified his dad's body the night he was killed. Itachi was coached by "Madara" to kill Itachi's best friend, so he is obviously dead. The only guy that I listed that makes some sense is Izuna, but he shouldn't have eyes. It seems like it has to be someone that we've heard about before, because of this whole Madara's body set up, but I guess there is a small chance that it will be "oh wait...I recognize you. You're .............. You disappeared fifty years ago in that freak industrial lathe accident. We all assumed that you had died. So, you were Tobi the whole time, huh?"

yeah..i wont be too happy if its obito, and it could be izuna, when Tobi used that one technique against the origami ninja (her name escapes me D= ), his eye closed, but if i remember correctly when sasuke beat danzou and tobi was doing a autopsy of the body, behind him there were like hundreds of boxes of (if i remember correctly) sharigan eyes. So maybe thats how he was able to see again o.O?

This chapter made me go crazy into investigation for a while.
At first me and my friend totally went for the theory that To-bi = reversed O-bi-to minus the O at the end.
But this notion was quickly dropped when we realized that Tobi (who was called Madara, but god knows who he really is now) was present during Naruto's birth and went against the fourth Hokage.
Then my friend provided an argument that Tobi only retained his right Sharingan and that Obito gave Kakashi his left Sharingan. And then we found a picture where Tobi was fighting Konan and revealed he had both Sharingans before implanting a Rinnengan(sp?) into his left eye. And I can totally see the old-man wrinkles behind that mask.
So, yeah. We scratched Obito from the list :\
Some people mentioned Kagami, and my first reaction was who the hell is that guy? I found him in Naruto-wikia but I already forgot (damn short-term memory). Also Izuna was also a popular guess. I'm leaning more to Izuna.
Some also said something about White Zetsu's body with Madara's soul or something. Also plausible.
Arrghhh this is seriously killing me, but good job Kishimoto. Haven't done this much speculating for so long XD

What I keep coming back to is the fact that Itachi did NOT want Sasuke to see Madara's face. Ever. Itachi went so far as implanting a jutsu in Sasuke that triggers the second Madara tries to remove his mask.
Why would this matter unless Madara is someone Sasuke would be able to recognize?
If it was Izuna, which I agree would be a good and logical plot twist, then what is the problem in allowing Madara to remove his mask? Even if it was Madara who was underneath Madara's mask, again, what's the big deal in letting Sasuke see him? It's not like Sasuke knows or cares about either one of them. Therefore, I think Calíbre may be on to something here:

If Madara had pulled an Orochimaru and taken over the body of Sasuke's dad, for instance, then Sasuke would have a hard time considering Madara an enemy the way Itachi wants him to. Same deal if the person under the mask were another close family member.
(And to get really convoluted, there's always the possibility that the person under the mask is Izuna's soul in someone else's body...)

Ok, I'm just gonna make a guess based on all the guesses that I have heard... IT'S SASUKE'S FAAAAAATHEEEERR!!!!!!!!!( NO, I THOUGHT HE WAS Dead). However i think that makes sense. Itachi did not want sasuke to see madara's face. I just hope that tobi is not who we think he is because that would boring.

I guess this means that Madara was the Edo Tensei summon that Kabuto used to unsettle Tobi back when he joined him. I just hope that Tobi is a previously mentioned character and not someone totally new cause that would be cheap. I'm betting he is either Madara's brother or some kind of duplicate/clone.
