I knew this arc wouldn't last long after we saw their power ups. Finally Weakahoshis power cam to use.

But does this mean that Luffy could also control the beasts in some way? They said they reacted to his act of helping the Fishmen Island.

Well, he did befriend all those beasts on the island where he was training. And then Surume. I wonder where he's gone to... Anyway, it seems his haki does grant him some influence. The thing with the Sea Kings, however, still needs clarification.

Yeah but the princess has some kind of power over sea kings before so its probs a result of Luffy's friendship + Shirahoshi's power.
Hmm
Perhaps.

I like Brook a lot more now that he has ice based attacks. It would be interesting if he gained some kind of haki and went up against Aokiji

Although I'm not sure if ice attacks make sense for Brook. His epithet is humming Brook and though I understand that "humming" does not imply it, it can be attributed to very high vibration in his sword. If that was the case, the blade would heat up rather than cool down since molecular motion would need to drop to near zero to significantly freeze an opponent

Well, I've been thinking about it too. If Brook has indeed gotten closer to the spirit side, it would kind of make sense. I don't know if you've ever watched Ghost Hunters, but one symptom of a possible haunting is the temperature in a very localized area will suddenly drop.

It can't be a coincidence that these are apparently the same sea kings that the Strawhats encountered when they unknowingly entered the Calm Belt on their way to the grand line from Loguetown. (chapter 101 for reference).

@true_grave_unit: I never noticed that. Perhaps this is Oda's surprise to the readers.

back to the brook problem there are many ways to make sense of the frozen blade like

1.in order to increase the temp of an item through touching the colder item will draw the heat from the hotter item until equilibrium is reached and both items will be equal, brooks sword may be vibrating causing an rapid uptake of heat from the items touched but leaves before heat can leave the sword (i know this is really pushing science to the BS area but hay its a manga)

2. the rapid vibration of the sword may cause a strong vacuum, vacuums are cold some scientists believe that black holes core (a black hole is a giant vacuum) is at absolute zero.

3. the whole ghost bs thing about being cold around ghost.

4. ...well thats all i can think of.

Ugh... Brook's afro is explained away by him having DEEP ROOTS. So the blade is really cold because of the ~chill of the grave~

It's a well known fact that One Piece runs on nonsensoleum. There's no need to bring science here.
