Hello fellows,

After reading the entire series of Otogi Matsuri and completely captivated by it, I want this excited feeling to last a bit longer and wanna find another good series to consume. I'm looking for suggestions of manga with similar theme: supernatural, modern war, folklores-based demon etc... One similar series, but not as cool, is Ga-rei Ive already finished. Don't involve vampire thingies (Dance in a Vampire Bund is a brilliant example of that kind), no alien shits like Gantz.

TIA

hmm Ga-Rei would have been my best guess...

something like Totsugami? only 2 chapters so far though :/

all other titles that come to my mind contain comedy to a certain degree, and Ga-Rei was kinda dark...
well perhabs Sugar Dark, it's not folklore based, but contains supernatural beings, and is really dark (like name says)
if you don't mind a bit comedy, Onikirisama no Hakoirimusume give a similiar feeling

Thanks bro.

I see I asked a hard 'looking for' question. Im sorry, but none of those you suggested attracts me. I've read countless manga, but this is the first time Ive encountered a manga that blends all elements so well together. No high tech, no boobies, almost no panty shots, and still it left me in awe for the rest of the day after finishing it. If it were ever made into a movie, I expect it would be as great as LOTR.

well I've got a few that captivated me atleast... If you don't mind other themes...
Mirai Nikki really sucks you in, but the end is nothing special
Hoshi no Samidare very nice title, serious theme, but not too serious to read
Melo Holic for a really good comedy/romance/tragedy manga
Ai-Ren this tragedy keeps kicking you, even when you are already on the ground...
Iris Zero never get tired to read this, really good and serious topic

most of them are seinen...
Ai-Ren is the only one that gets ecchi at times, but it's just to bring forward the story, it's neither overused, nor used without a particular reason.

hope this does help you none

IMHO you can try Spice and Wolf. It doesn't deal with a modern world, but it got a nice supernatural and folklore vibe if that's what you are mostly looking for. Also, it's an excellent manga overall.
A totally different thing could be Billy Bat, since it set in a modern world with reference to ancient and supernatural stuff. There are also chapters set on previous eras which dealt with japanese folklore. But it's not finished (and I read it only to vol 4) so I don't know where it could lead. Edit: I just read the summary and well it doesn't really give you an idea of what the manga is about, I think you need to read at least of couple of volumes to understand it, if you are willing to try it.

PS just remember that they aren't exactly what you asked for, I'm giving suggestions based on my interpretation of what could be similar to what you want.

Psyren - Would fit the main protag gaining powers as in Otogi Matsuri.
Psycho Busters - Another one that might fit what your looking for.
