the kyuubi is called Kurama? Is this a reference to Yu Yu Hakusho?

And then the whole Son Goku reference too. Makes me wonder if the one-tailed beast is called Ichigo, or another one of the beasts is called Luffy. laugh

This chapter was good, giving us some insight on the tailed beasts and how they've been treated by different leaders of hidden villages and jinchuuriki.

Maybe all kyubis are name after popular Jump's character. Bee is kinda like Beelzebub. Though Bee is the user not the 8 tails?
This is getting really good, there might be a possibility that Naruto will carry all 9 kyubis at the end.

kurama is a reference to mount kurama and the kurama tengu there is also a legend of a demonic fox named kurama and son goku is a monkey demon from other folklore stories these references have been used in manga many times even befoore dragon ball or yuyu hakusho so it most likely dosent have a relation to these series

Naruto getting scolded for never bothering to ask the kyuubi's name is so par for the course with his character. He rarely seems to ask questions, even basic questions that anyone would ask. I bet there's a lot of stuff the kyuubi, excuse me, Kurama, could tell him about Madara, Tobi, his mother, the Sage of the 6 paths, etc. if Naruto were to try talking to him, but he hasn't. (Kyuubi could refuse to answer his questions, but the point is, Naruto ought to at least try, especially when knowing certain things might make fighting these guys easier.) Just a random rant on how much it bugs me that Naruto is so uninquisitive for a main character.

Anyway, it was nice how the chapter helped create some sympathy for how the tailed beasts have been treated by the ninja world. It's lame how Naruto seems to make friends with everybody, but in this one particular case, I can see how to a tailed beast, Naruto would come across as the lesser of two evils between him and Tobi.

Not really, if he going that route then why didn't he used son wukong instead of sun goku?
Also, it would be kitsune and not kurama.
Scyfon, *facepalm*
Yes, he used these mythical beasts but as if he tried to make an insidejoke or something with the other mangaka.

Because Sun Wukong is the Chinese name while Son Goku is the Japanese translation/equivalent ... roll eyes and as mentioned above, the other jump manga take the names from the same folklore.

okay, I will take that because I don't know Japanese all that well. But, I am not aware of kurama as a mythical beast but kitsune is purely japanese (though, it sounds more feminine than kurama for sure). And, many westerners don't know sun wukong. But the japanese version of it was just plain Monkey as I recalled (pigsy, and sandy).

Nevermind, one source does said son goku is the japanese equivalent term of sun wukong.

Kitsune is definitely the Japanese term and perhaps the most famous representation of demon/spirit foxes but they are not the only ones. Notably there's the Korean Gumiho, essentially the same thing but in Korean and the notion that they are always evil whereas Kitsune can be benevolent or malevolent. There's also the Chinese Huli Jing (though I may be wrong about that name) who are also fox spirits. Even the Vietnamese, whose culture is further away from Japan, have evil fox spirits in their folklore but this is likely a loan from China.

I agree with the comments about Naruto uninquisative nature or just a complete lack of social graces. This is something I come to expect of the character; naive to a fault. But that's what makes him likeable roll

hmmm, you never really contribute to the convo beside talking smack. I already see their point when I initially read the chapter. But I hate your attitude so much, that I have to play the devil advocate here. Any asian child would already know those mythological, you are not any special. Like I said westerners are not well verse in these things. I was surprise that people think sun wukong is base off son goku and not the other way around. Or Romance of the three kingdoms is based of Dynasty Warriors. Tone down a bit and don't go off topic with your irrelevant smack talking.

Well that what confused me, sun wukong is already well known to the American teens via one of those Orochi Dynasty spin off. So that is why I don't understand that the scanlator not translate into sun wukong instead of son goku. I meant sun wukong is entirely a chinese tale. There is not a japanse version of it like these evil fox spirit version. The translation only confused with the popular character son goku. Son goku like you pointed out is just a Japanese translation of an original chinese name. Which Sun Wukong is an already officially accepted english name for that chinese name.

UMAD, bro?
Why are you telling me all this? These are things you should've thought off before asking silly things like why he didn't use the Chinese version of the name.
My little "input" is worth just as much as your attempt at trying to be smart and pointing out a mistake that wasn't a mistake in the first place.

Because the way you read 孫悟空 in Japanese IS Son Goku. Seriously, stop to think for a second before posting these silly comments.

Kurama was inspired by Kurama from Yuyu Hakusho. Kishimoto already said this.

"Yes, he used these mythical beasts but as if he tried to make an insidejoke or something with the other mangaka. " May I quoted myself.

As far as wiki can tell me, Mount Kurama is home to the tengu which has nothing to do with foxes. I wasn't refer to your mistake specifically. When the original poster of this thread posted, my thought is like your but when I google around there was no hint that kurama was fox spirit beside that yuyu hakusho show. Then I have to reread it again because of the son goku vs sun wukong thing. And I thought, that the earlier posters may have a point. I don't dismiss everything with just a face palm. I don't understand what the hell are you on with your last post. But whatever. roll eyes

Edit; btw what mistake all you said is facepalm confused ?? wtf is that even relevant?

Edit: Scyfon is crazy, I ain't gonna go off on tangent in this thread. Have fun and carry on :---) the rest of people.
