I totally agree with StarlightDreams.

This is a question for those of you who read their work and don't respect them.

Why should mangafox earn money from scanlators works?

I dont care about watermarked scans... but making it look like its rightfull to have credit for doing ilegal work doesnt feel right as it doesnt feel right to make money from ilegal stuff. Sure i cant read japanese and i use scanlation and i dont want it to end but lets get this right ITS WRONG even if u do it free or not stealing the work from other who are already stealing isnt that wrong anyway. BUT! if those doing wrong at the start just want a lil credit MANGAFOX is a bunch of arses if they dont do it and make people happy with them ( heck even do some lil donations to scanlators could be fine even if they are annonimous).

Why should mangafox earn money from scanlators works?

And why should you scanlators earn through your scans?
The only ones that should earn from theirs own works are mangakas, but you take their profits as mangafox does.
What is the difference between batoto and mangafox?
They both earn thanks to ads, I personally don't see any difference.
If we then speak about respect to mangakas, well, why does batoto host licensed series?
Can you explain this to me?

EDIT:
I agree with the idea of adding "Releases watermarked scans" as information to each scanlators groups: I don't mean per releases but per group, as there are links to their home page and forum and twitter should be stated if they release watermarked chapters.
I and would suggest to add to "Releases" front page an icon so to identify groups that do so: as near "title" there is the icon to the list on which each manga is added to (reading, interesting, etc) so there should be an icon near "Groups" that identify groups that put watermarks on their releases.
Who is with me?

As a compromise between marking watermarked releases and not marking them at all, I find that putting an icon for groups that release watermarked scans as acceptable.

The difference is amount of money they receive.
Scanslators aren't "earning" through their scans. Saying so is a joke and an insult. Most of the money goes to buying raws and paying for the servers.

While both do it for the sake of "site maintenance", mangafox earns more than what they need to maintain a site for a year in at least a week.
There's a fine line between a tiny "profit" and raking it in.

Batoto earns money through ads, but Batoto gives the money to the scanlators and uses the rest on maintenance. I can't speak for all scanlators, but what I earn from batoto is not for my own personal uses. It's to pay for my website, my servers, and most importantly my raws. When I buy raws, the money actually does go back to the mangaka and publishers at least. And who has ever said anything about batoto being respectful to mangakas? lol Batoto is respectful to scanlators.

I highly doubt we will be marking watermarked scans, especially since it would create more work for release mods.

However, whether the watermarks were appropriate or not is an entirely different discussion and should not occur in this forum. I will be leaving this topic unlocked pending responses from other admins, but this is not a free pass to continue this discussion. Find a better location.
