If Ikki Tousen was republished with a better translation, would you still read it? It's been dropped and I don't know if it'll ever be picked up again, but I have hopes. I love this series. Tokyopop ruined the US version with their softcore porno dialogue and hard to understand slang (I mean, seriously?) Dialogue wise, the US version has little to no plot, barely any point to it, and majorly takes away from a good series.
But like Viz did with Tenjo Tenge maybe a publisher could do with Ikki Tousen! I'm collecting the series (or was) with poor dialogue. If it were reprinted with a fixed dialogue I'd have to own them. Would you buy Ikki Tousen if they were reprinted?

sure the US translation made it unreadable but they atleast dont pretend it is something its not
it is softcore porn
cute girls,muscular men,bare breasts,sex scenes,rape
there is no story
and using rot3k names on characters and pretend it have some connection with that just makes it worse
I bought the first 9 volumes...
and i will not buy a new set

You say you bought the first 9 volumes, but from the way you describe it, I wonder if you even read them. Seriously.
I'd buy it. Unlike this mome above me, I thought the story was interesting enough for me to keep on reading. It didn't matter if I had read Romance of the three kingdoms beforehand. The plot was fairly clear and easy to follow - at the very least, it wasn't as confusing as Tenjou Tenge. Anyone who says that its about sex, boobs and rape probably didn't read it and most likely looked at it as fapping material (you have my pity).

I agree. Sure, it had a lot of boobs, sex, and rape - but there WAS a story - Tokyopop just F-ed it up.

Poor thing. It's so much more then soft porn. There weren't even that many sex scenes.
But I guess since sex is something so strange and unfamiliar to the both of u that u can't even handle it in small doses. Ha.
No, ikki tousen isn't that bad. The first few volumes don't even have the best fanservice (it doesn't get really good until volume 6 or 7+)
But hell yeah I'd buy them if they were reprinted!

I've been wanting to read the series but I always hear about the translation being messed up and the series dropped... can't decide if I want to put the time in to read it.

You can blame THAT on stupid Tokyopop. Those idiots deserved to shut down for butchering good manga like that. I love the Ikki Tousen series, but it was hard for me to get into the "translated" version because of Tokyopop's ridiculous translation.

The translation is messed up, but that's Tokyopop's fault. If Viz republished it I'm sure they'd provide an accurate translation for it that didn't read like a nonsensical softcore porno. stupid Toykopop. And Battle Vixens - along with all ongoing Tokyopop series - were dropped. It wasn't JUST Battle Vixens or anything.
BTW - If Viz did republish this series, I hope they'd fix the title. Ikki Tousen does NOT translate to Battle Vixens.

Lol, you are seriously thinking that a a shitty manga loosely based on the twelve kingdoms, unoriginal, and 40% butts and 50%tits had anything running for it beside the shitty fan service?
If you actually think this manga would had been published for more than 4 chapters if it didn't had fanservise you are out of you mind.
Also, did you know it's a fallacy to insult the person and not address the theme itself? that goes beyond stupid.

Pretty bad. Basically more than half the plot was omitted for dialogue that seemed to come straight out of a soft core porno.

The fan service is what sells it. Take that away with a shitty translation and yeah it's gonna suck.
The original Japanese verision had an actual plot with fan service. That plus a lot of action makes it a kick ass manga. Obviously shojo is more your speed.
You're like one of those people that reads a series just to complain about it. That goes stupid.

Ignoring the posts above and answering the original question, I would read Ikki Tousen...maybe.
I used to say I would never get through Tenjou Tenge with the sex, violence and flashbacks flashbacks flashbacks but ta dah, it's on my completed list AND I always recommend it to friends [though the anime REALLY needs to be redone and made longer. So much wasted promise]
Ikki Tousen I did watch like the first couple episodes of the anime [Ryomo is so many levels of awesome] and have tried to read the first couple of chapters of the manga. Confusing names aside there is one blockade in my way.

She is just so unbearably idiotic that I can't stand her. There are far more intelligent characters in the manga, sure but her...I need a promise that she gets better. I need to know that it's worth listening to her suffocating stupidity with the promise that either there will be awesome fights, fanservice and plot....or she dies. I'm good with either.

You see, if you bad mouth something with out reading it you are an idiot, and reading a manga just to complain is stupid too, so i just keep reading a few chapters and then jump trough the manga to see the ending and/or other important things to be able to properly criticize it if i feel it's bad or/and uninteresting.
