Mostly read online, cant download freely because of the limited bandwidth.
Poor internet speed and bandwidth in my country =______="

Always downloading for enjoying manga in high resolution. Why would (good) editors otherwise spend hours to deliver the best quality possible?
And once downloaded, I can also read offline whenever I want. What if SOPA takes a reader offline? No manga? No way! biggrin

No... but there's still a noticeable lag between loading pages, while there is no lag whatsoever when reading offline. Besides, at any one time there's usually something else competing for your bandwidth - another download, other open pages, online games, whatever. I often have other downloads running and that makes online reading even slower.

I also don't take it for granted that I'm always going to have access to the internet, and I most certainly don't take it for granted that scanlated manga will always be freely available on the web.

Well...if 0.5-1 sec's is too much for you...wow...u in a lot of hurry then=|
well..first of all...if i've alrdy read a chapter,i don't usually read it again...so i wouldn't care much if there are or there aren't any old chapters,and if there will be a ban,then u couldn't download a new one either...so kinda pointless really..
but well...it's up to you,i'm just saying..)

I'll take download over reading online any day, and am actually quite annoyed when a release is only available via online reader (don't mind waiting a few days though).
Even if someday the perfect online manga reader was to be created, allowing the user a multitude of configurable options and very good quality content... I'd still prefer downloading the release.

Offline readers also have quite a few advantages:
- Much better quality, online readers mostly host LQ content.
- Your software, your rules... I like to read my manga in double pane mode, and sometimes continuously (i.e. korean web toons).
- NO delays, what you say is true, the delay is almost negatable... But still, reading a volume online takes me about thrice as much time as reading it offline.
- You can take breaks whenever you want, no need to create lots of bookmarks (or have open tabs) just to keep track of where you are (re)reading stuff...
- No need for an active internet connection, I'd like to be able to read manga when on the train or when at a location without internet access (which usually is the moment I have time to read manga).

It's just the way I am, I don't like doing things that require me to be constantly online (especially when it's not necessary to be so)... Something people of the "internet-age" probably can't really identify with (I grew up without internet at first and many years of dialup after).

With download, you dont need the internet after initial download, and it's faster than reading online

However, there are chances of screwing up your computer as well

... How do you figure?
How do you screw up your computer from downloading a rar/zip archive and either extracting it's contents or opening it with a comic reader?

I use online reading to find new series. It easier to browse manga when I can read just a few pages or part of a chapter and then move on if I dont like it..

I always make sure to download manga that I really like so that i have access to them anytime.. I have a few favorite scanlators who I always download from rather than read their series online. Since they generally always have something I like I will download all the series that I havnt read if I see they have an update.

@Selim You've gotten a virus from downloading manga? O.o Those are the safest downloads I have ever made.. I had more problems with the ads on online readers from giving me malware(atleast 3 times.. rawr). I stopped getting them after I blocked the ads..

I download, but I delete it as soon as I read it. But the thing is that I don't just like to read as soon as I get it. And I don't even want a browser up. Plus I'd have more trouble reading it on a site, and the resolution and the way its framed always seem weird. And I don't have to take control of the cursor and press a icon just to keep reading.

I never download manga to read it. I used to read manga online, but I no longer do.
I prefer to buy the manga and read it. That's the best way to enjoy reading manga!
