Does any feel the manslut of a dad that is the main character's dad is a totally stupid? Characterwise and to the story. According to the story if the Stigmata appears only on his kids, then he has at least 5 of them spread throughout the world (Main character, MIO, Lagos, Henri, Unnamed boy), maybe more.
Part of me feels it was a cheap way to make sure nothing could have come out of him (main character) and MIO.

Still too many questions IMO left unanswered. How did the dad get the stigmata? Couldn't moby have been more cooperative at the start? Too much mystery and not enough of a decent answer to justify it for me.

It's an okay ending although there were many unanswered questions....like what happen to the mexican girl....will all the sisters be his and how about a few years later kind of story to bring about the closure of sure a slow pace manga that span 4 years of anticipation... confused

It was in the last chapter, but it definitely wasn't the last page of the series.

According to the 180 that the end of the story did... apparently no one ACTUALLY "Died in Taiyo's place" and the whale wasn't malicious in any way...

So why are all these kids suffering becuase of this stigmatta that apparently doesn't actually harm anyone in any way.

I really liked how it's kinda revealed in the end, that Lagos was pretty much murdered for no reason.

What exactly WAS the connection between the whale and the ruins?

None of it made any sense in the end.... and yet... the ending the way it was... I am actually satified and really liked the story.

P.S. Mio and Shibuki should share him IMO... I like em both... but I think I liked Moi a little more... no matter how ditry it makes me feel to admit that.

Oh... and if the white whale is the one that saved him when the girls' mother died.... why did the father die? And how did he.... UGH! Story conflicts and plot holes! Why do I like this manga so much?!

It's good to know that given his father's traits, Mar is probibly pregnant though.

I still would've liked it if the ending was more explained. I mean...from a scene in the hospital I think Nagisa also indirectly confesses to liking.

That, and he promised to teach Mar diving, so this is just a guess but he interacted with Mar somehow later on, who also likes him.

It's a love square :< Too bad he already got married.

A few questions I had, which I posted in a duplicate thread on accident (oops).
Would be grateful if anyone could help ease my confusion.

1. How exactly are Taiyo and Mio related? In the end, the issue of them being siblings was brought up. Are they 100% blood related? In other words, who are Mio's biological parents?

2. How exactly did Saki (Taiyo's mother) die? At first it seemed that she sacrificed herself to save Taiyo from the mysterious symbol. Later, it was revealed she committed suicide (Why? Was she upset at her husband for perhaps cheating on her?). Also, who and why was someone (a female, most likely Miyara mother) choking Taiyo in a rowboat in the last chapter? (flashback scene)

3. How did Nagisa/Shibuki's parent's die. It was mentioned they had died trying to save Taiyo, but how and where? (I'm assuming their mother died in the rowboat while psychotically trying to choke Taiyo for some reason. And the father died while diving for the ruins?)

4. What became of Taiyo and Subuki? It's clear that they had a child. Were they living in Okinawa at the end, trying to rebuild the Inn? Why was there mention of Peru from Mio?

Those are the major questions that bothered me the most.
I really did enjoy the story, but the ending felt rushed and seemed to be full of unexplained plot holes. Maybe I missed something?

Thanks in advance for any help you can throw my way.

1. They hare Half-blood siblings I guess
2. She fell in the ocean and got eaten by the whale...
3. Mother died after trying to choke him Father went back after her and died
4. What happened to him would probably be similar to his father... His father got with an affair overseas and so did he...

Thanks for the response Ryusen. I apologize if it sounds like I'm nitpicking, I just want to be clear.

1. They hare Half-blood siblings I guess

So Taiyo's father slept with Nagisa/Shibuki's mother?

2. She fell in the ocean and got eaten by the whale...

Was there a reason why they were in the ocean in the first place?
Why was she trying to kill Taiyo? o.O

4. What happened to him would probably be similar to his father... His father got with an affair overseas and so did he...

I reread the last chapter. It seems that Taiyo and the three sisters are currently all gathered at Okinawa (thank god he isn't traveling the world spreading his seed). I'm assuming the mail Mio found was sent to Taiyo from Mar back in Peru.

On a side note:
The more I think about the storyline, the more I rage.
Seems to me like Taiyo's dad was a real scumbag, especially if he really did drive Saki to suicide due to his unfaithfulness. Not to mention all the offspring he left behind.
I really hope Taiyo is nothing like his dad and stays faithful to Shibuki.
And good lord, the plot holes regarding the ruins/whales/symbionts/deaths/etc etc...

All in all, IO was an enjoyable read, but I feel that the rather weak/confusing ending didn't allow for the story to reach its full potential.

So Taiyo's father slept with Nagisa/Shibuki's mother?
-Yes He did

Was there a reason why they were in the ocean in the first place?
Why was she trying to kill Taiyo? o.O
-She was trying to kill Taiyo, cause she was jelous of the other woman

Taiyo's father was just a playboy... Taiyo isn't as much but I think he still flirts and such with a few girls. I do hope they decide in the future to make either a sequel, a pre-sequel, or a spin-off of sorts to expand more on the plot-holes

Uhm maybe I'm missing something or I was confused but at the end the girl who arives by boat and is standing on the dock saying welcome to Zamami is his wife. Seems fairly well wrapped up.

As for the plot and all I found it good overall. I agree some of the plot twists like the atomic bomb in the ocean seemed thrown in. There was enough story to make it acceptable but it seemed forced.

uhm, in the end seems like the mystery wasn't fully revealed. I know. So, the source if the ruin is from Taiyo father and his birth place where bless the whale god. But how the hell it related to Peruconfused

I think of all he tragic was done because of Taiyo father is a playboy but everybody respected him kinda piss me of.

Everybody has already mentioned how Taiyo's dad is a complete dirtbag who's actions (not his stigmata) plunged all the women in his life into misfortune, but there was one other thing that bothered me. I thought how the Peru segment was wrapped up was just horrible. The author purposely didn't develop Lago. She's just Mar's little sister that's drawn in some of the scenes and doesn't speak (he even conveniently has the stigmata disease make her mute.) This makes it easy for him to kill her off in the most cruel and heartless way to supposedly save all the other stigmata children. However it's unclear that her death really saved anyone. Mar decides to look the other way while her sister that she's been trying to save for years is brutally murdered in front of her all on the chance Taiyo *might* be saved. After it's all said and done, Taiyo at one point actually thanks Machiko for her actions. That whole series of events is written in a way that makes it easy for the reader to look the other way, but if you think about it, simply developing Lago a little bit would make the reader sick and angry when it came to her death.

Overall the biggest flaw of this manga is how the awfulness of the actions of some of the characters is simply brushed over and they are made to look like they are not so bad after all.

About Mar, maybe everyone missed this but the reason she didn't help Lago was precisely because she was pregnant. Kinda pisses me off that she was just a prop to be discarded to quickly resolve Mio's problem. She just deserved better than to die for a guy (brother) she didn't even know. That said she was gonna die regardless but still... far too brutal.
I think the thing redeeming most characters would be the fact that they're so riddled with faults they can be perceived as more human. Except the father. Given an opportunity that guy should be drawn and quartered. His blood may be "cursed" but he did precisely diddly squat in trying to keep his family safe.
And on a final note, finally a challenger to Shiki and the "Tohno gland". Taiyo and his father before him could get rocks to carry their children. Physically impossible you say? Don't make me laugh. After all, we have WHALES!
