I'm looking for a manga where your typical weak\wimpy male lead actually matures (and\or gets stronger). Preferably with romance. Because wimpy characters always have the potential to develop into non wimpy ones, it's just that in most manga they don't develop...

No Hantai\Shounen Ai\Shoujo Ai please. Ecchi and harem series are ok if the story is good and romance actually goes somewhere (i.e. ending is conclusive). Completely scanlated series are welcome.

what about The Breaker ? I'm not too far in but I saw this manga was mentioned in a thread similar to this one
pertaining Mirai Nikki, while the MC do change, his foolishness and immaturity don't fade away. He isn't actually strong either. It's only my opinion though.

edit: I just remembered that you (Lorska) were the one who recommended me to read Mirai Nikki lol.
thread: try Shamo, MC was a wimp and is gradually becoming an antihero.
One of my favourites: Onani Master Kurosawa, MC isn't exactly a wimp but his transformation is kinda amazing. The romance is also good.

well at least he stops being a total wimp after the one incident, but as whatnot said, he never is really strong, only his psyche changes, not his physical abilities.

The Breaker is probably the closest thing to what I'm looking for among those manga You suggested. I guess it's not a very common thing with wimpy characters to actually mature. Most of the maturing characters from manga which I remember were already halfway there at the beginning and they never really were wimps\weak (like in Unbalance x 2, Gokusen and Super-dreadnought Girl 4946). A good example of what I'm looking for would be Raki from Claymore (but there is the time skip and his badass version doesn't appear much). Also Sekirei MC does some maturing\improving over time (but he still has a long way to go).

Does Shinji Ikari count?

AFAIK Shinji Ikari stayed a wimp to the end. So that would be no. Unless you mean the new movies, but I'm not watching them until all of them are out.

I mentioned Raki, because he turns into a badass.

What about Hikaru no Go, Hajime no Ippo, Baby Steps, Kurogane (Ikezawa Haruto), or Ookiku Furikabutte..

hmm, I'd suggest Eden: It's an Endless World! (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=930) though to be honest It's been a while since I read it... I'm not entirely sure, but I think the main character was fairly "wimpy" in the beginning and certainly became really badass later on...

I'm already reading Kurogane, it's good (though a bit generic).
Zippy Ziggy is awesome I was reading it already.
I tried to read Freezing before, but I was disappointed with how it was written, I guess I'll give it another chance.
