why, or why not.

EDIT: by recreational i did not mean not harmful, i meant should it be a right for people to inject whatever they wish to inject into their own body. even if that recreational drug would kill the person who is about to smoke, inject or inhale said drug.

You mean worldwide? It's already legal in some countries.

And to answer your question; only light stuff like marijuana. What is your stance? Perhaps people should state whether they involve themselves in drugs, to make this more interesting.

I'm for legal marijuana, but it is currently illegal in the USA.
I use it but I also don't get that messed up from it, just a relaxing buzz. I actually made it thru college, deans list, high honors, etc all while smoking that sticky icky. It also makes art and politics more interesting.
Over the years comparing it to alcohol, i prefer just taking a few puffs, rather than drinking large volumes of liquid that make you feel like shit in the morning with a hangover.

Now, I know thats not the case for everyone. Some can't handle it and shoot themselves while high, like in those PSA announcements. It can be addictive, but no where near the same as hard drugs.
I have not done crack, cocaine, heroin, meth etc but hang out with people who have and not once have I heard of them say they have sucked a dick to score weed, overdosed to death, sold all there stuff to buy drugs and all the other horrible things you hear about what hard drugs do.

It's only illegal if you get caught.
wink

Are you sure about that? Since it would explain a lot of things.

In the US it is illegal, I don't use it or condone it but it would be more beneficial if it were legal. The hellish situation at the border of Mexico is thanks to marijuana being illegal. Nah, "hellish" isn't the right word, more like fucking bat shit insane terrible horrific unbelievable chaotic lunacy. Tobacco is legal and the health risks are way more prevalent than that of marijuana. Not saying that marijuana isn't bad, it can have the same effect as if one were intoxicated - cases have been made where morons got high and decided to drive killing a man who died protecting his wife and unborn child. Yet tobacco is toxic to the user and their associates. Each cigarette shortens your lifespan by 7 minutes.

tl;dr Anyways, what my standpoint is, is to legalize marijuana and you make life easier for innocent people, you save space in prisons for serious criminals and our economy somewhat benefits.

to me... anyone that needs the use of some "substance" to recreate himself is pretty much a sorry life wanting to be ended. But thats just how i feel everybody have its issues so i cant really say its something wrong to use but having it legaly could make it less likely to kill or get killed marketing it. I'd make those bad guys form corporations and the free market will rule prices... no more hidden drugs hands at the stock markets or future trades making people more poor.

I'd be great to make addicted people into social security problems so they can be treated by insurance either that or let them all kill themselves.

Lets pry all drugs will become legal sometime.

i think marijuana should be legal. i personally haven't used it and i find the smell annoying, but i don't think it's more dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes.

as far as other drugs, i feel like if a person wants to waste their life away why should i care. i only have a problem with them if they do illegal things while on drugs or to obtain drugs. i think the drugs themselves aren't the biggest issue. it's the robbing, prostituting, and killing to get drugs attitude that is the real problem.

1- The right thing would be no one using any drugs. Using of illegal drugs is extremely selfish, shows you don't give a fuck about other people.

2- Many people are selfish, so they will use drugs, and there is nothing you can do about it. No awareness bulshit, you have to be very simple to not realize the chain reaction you cause when you buy drugs. They don't care and that is it.
Drug user thought: "I would like to use toilet paper without "cutting" any trees, but since I can't... I will use toilet paper anyway" (The importance of toilet paper and its effects in the environment are not to be compared to drugs)

3- I see two solutions:
- Secluding every person who doesn't care from society.
- Legalizing drugs and minimazing the negative effects.
Only the second one is viable.

4- This is not possible on sub-developed countries like Brazil. With the legalization of drugs crime rate will boom
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
, yeah, as much as you would like to think otherwise, the trafickers won't go "Shit, drugs are legalized, I need to go straight now ", they will just move to more risky and direct things like robbery. There is also the possibility that general legalization wouldn't really affect traffic, in some legalization experiences the drug dealers power rose instead of falling, if the legalization is only local, the dealers can move to greener pastures with some of his thugs while the others turn to robbery, now, if it is generalized there is the possibility that they will only adapt the game instead of dropping it.
To control it, you will need competent and relatively numerous police and free space in jails. Undeveloped countries lack both. And some developed ones too.

Edit:
5- Ah, and to legalization you need political will. Sadly many important politicians profit from traffick. In 90%(or more) of the countries there is no political will to legalize anything.

every recreational drug? my lord, you must be insane. have you seen what people do simple alcohol?
i'm sorry but i find alcohol and drugs repulsive; i'm reluctant as hell just to take some children's tylenol, this is coming from a 17 year old.

my point of view concerning drugs:
1) you must be boring as fuck to need it to have fun
2) you are just that berserk to need it to be "chill"
or
3) you must be that stupidly depressed if you think drugs are a good escape.
you ask, "how am i stupid?"
i say, "maybe if you used your brain a little more you'd figure out that after that high you hit a new low. drugs are a moment of pleasure that end in you feeling more like shit than before."

if it were possible, i would remove them from the face of the earth. sadly, that is one dream that will never come true.

Some of you have a slightly warped view of drugs. I would blame this on the typical scare tactics utilised in schools which make you think you will instantly turn into a hopelessly addicted criminal the second you snort a line. I would legalise the majority of drugs except for a few exceptionally damaging examples (heroin and crack cocaine being the first that come to mind).
Things like MDMA are actually less harmful than alcohol and cigarettes. People die because they either have no idea what dosage they are taking or what they have taken is mixed with absolute garbage. Legalising these substances means that they can be regulated accordingly.

I understand your point and i do believe its the right thinking for most people, but as some ads say in my home country, drugs arent bad because they are ilegal they are ilegal because they are bad biggrin.

Klapzi is kind of wrong about the undeveloped countries tho. legalizing drugs there will make the bussiness open as theres no need to do it behind the law. some part of it may stay hidden because countries will put taxes on it tho(ya they are greedy and most other stuff is taxed bigrazz why not make money legaly with drugs too?). crime rate concerned to drugs will go down because instead of trying to stop it pólice will help them stop theft. Crime to make money to buy drugs(high addictive ones) may get higher BUT as now you can care about quality legislation will make them less likely to addict people and now u can legaly ask for money from Banks and stuff to buy drugs.

BUT i sure could like if i dont get to live in a world like that, even if i do wrote some chapters(never finished book) where the world was like it O_o.

Depends on the kind of substance, I guess.

I'm fine with marijuana. It's much less dangerous than tobacco and alcohol, imho, but I believe there still should be some level of enforcement against abuse, cos the last thing I want is some stoned wanker driving into the back of me in his SUV. I'm also not a fan of it being done in public (cos it smells), but consumption on private property or open spaces is fine in my book.

Other processed or chemical-based narcotics, I'm not really a fan of.

Those are some big generalizations. Not everyone uses it as some form of 'escape' - like alcohol it is a very good social lubricant and helps ease the mind of those not always at calm with themselves in social situations. Some of the most interesting folks I know smoke weed, hell some of em grow their own stuff.

You sound very tense, maybe you oughta roll a joint yourself someday laugh
