There are two separate boycotts going on, the one that concerns me is the one about the day one dlc. That you have to pay 10£$€ on lunch to unlock the Prothean squad mate. Im not going to take any sides on this but i find BW unvilingnes to talk about it and looking down all threads about it on thir forum... Heard about a successful boycott agenst BF3 as a resoning to why it will work. Fans who know about the boycott of the game are ofcurse split into two camps and this being the internet... opinions?

Sure. Here you go.

I think the idea of store exclusive content is silly unless made available later on as DLC, and even then, it's an iffy situation.

I think they have the right to do so its their product they created it if you dont like it then just dont buy it. On the other hand I think it is suspicious that the DLC was created after they completed the game they even said it was done by another team so I kinda doubt it was made after the main game was complete. But mabye their story is true anyway they are in there full right to do what they like with their products.

Think this is EA who have pushed it on BW and it not so much that its a day one dlc which they have done before, but that it is a Prothean character that many think is important enough to be included in the main game.

I might just wait until the next edition is out. get most of the dlc and the game at the same time in a year or so.

ok this is just me saying, forgot where i saw this so sorry i cant back up what i say with some evidence, but the "day one" dlc is the same content that comes in the collectors edition of the game. so pretty much anyone that gets the regular edition cause they didnt want to pay $20 more r left out on this part of the game but since its such a huge factor of the game ppl can buy it for $10. so now the bigger question is if u buy the regular edition and the "day one" dlc y not just add $10 more and get the collectors edition to show ur love and support for bioware. i already pre order my copy of the collectors edition and plan to play day 1. thats pretty much what the collectors edition is for, extra stuff for those true fans that buy new, cause really who will buy a used version of the collectors edition when the original buyer will most likely keep the extra stuff and if he/she doesnt even the codes that come with the game wont work anymore if he/she already used it so it makes no sense to buy a used collectors edition

Never liked ME. Every time I try to enjoy a bioware rpg these days, I remember The Witcher 2 and how much better cdprojekt is. Sure the writing (in ME 1) was good but ME 2 was simply boring. ME 3 looks to be following the same principle. Also, I'm sick of the final installment of a series bringing the battle to earth.

I already pre-ordered it ages ago before all this crap came up. Even if I didn't I doubt I would boycott it - ME1 was my first real RPG. I still remember my amazement the first time I played it. So I go into ME3 hoping that it doesn't disappoint like DA2 did.

I like Bioware ever since playing their Neverwinter games (I'm not a Baldur's Gate fan) and their RPG story making quality is probably the best imo. Ever since EA bought them, their games are still good but becoming more money hungry. I hate all the exclusive items and day one DLC. They make me feel that I'm not getting what I paid for. Both The Witcher 2 and Skyrim are the recent RPGs that I paid in full to play since they didn't pull these dlc things.

I also hate Origin. I see no purpose of using it. I have been using Origin for a while now and I have to say that it seems to me that EA is not making any effort at all to keep Origin as a competing digital game selling platform (vs Steam, Impluse). Steam is the giant bull in the middle of the room and others such as Impluse are still putting up a fight by giving discounts that actually make it worth while to check them. Origin is still 'beta' ever since EA announced that people have to use it to play their games. There is only one selling point for Origin: you have to use it to play EA games.

I don't know if I want to boycott since I really want to play bioware games. I'll just be pure evil and pirate the 'complete' game since pirates are really good at getting you the complete experience. Once EA starts to sell the game in a 'complete' bundle at a sale price then I might consider buying it. I have done it in the past with Mass Effect 2 so I see no point in playing the dumb customer with EA as long as they keep pulling stunts like this.

So what you are saying is that its alright for Bioware to release a game thats incomplete and then charge us 10$ extra for the last part?

That's what I heard. The dlc was a big part of the main story and making people wanting to pay $10 or $20 for collector's edition. I'm not too interested in ME3 or ME series, just never got to me. People are angry that they have to either pay the extra 10 or buy the 20 for the main story..I mean what's up with that? That's like killing the game mid-way and giving you unlimited $ and strongest equipment with 3x-5x exp from kills. My friend cancelled his order, and I'm not surprised. However, I do agree with everyone that EA is more likely the ring leader in the whole "lets make some extra profit". I can only think that other companies might follow the same thing, if the whole thing succeeds.

from the beginning when they announced what the collectors had it was kinda obvious something like this would happen. i mean how else would ppl get the "classified squad member and mission" if one decided to get the regular edition of the game. im not saying its alright but i understand y they, and by they i mean EA, r doing it. in a business sense it makes perfect sense, it encourages ppl to buy the more expensive collectors edition and if u dont want to they can still sell u the individual dlc that comes with the collectors edition. sure it sucks for us the consumer but its not the first time a big company has screwed over the consumer

i know u were joking but pirating isnt the answer. its cause of pirates that the whole online pass shit started mad
oh on the topic of origin i hate that shit too, seems so poinless
