With your no ecchi rule, my number one recommendation is no go. So it falls to my backup Level E
Also try Excel Saga available from Viz since no one wants to scanlate it past vol 4 mad Although the main female lead fits many of your criteria she also violates several of your do not wants possibly fulfilling your hidden depth criteria, now I that I think about it.
Twin Spica another one where scanlators have left it hanging after only six volumes.
Over Rev! finally got to recommend this in a non sports or car related thread.
Battle Angel Alita If you read this and its sequel, know the sequel turns into a tournament fighter manga around volume 5.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! They're not exactly what I'm looking for but I've taken a lot of them into consideration. I'm not really too good with vampires. Things have been really hectic for me lately so I postponed my own search. If anyone has anymore suggestions let me know.

I'm off to post my reading list up!

Spice and Wolf
Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners (Watch the anime movie series, since the manga only has 12 chapters that have been translated.)

Stalker
Song of the Cloud
Pandora Hearts

I would have recommended Nowhere Boy too, but it tends to have a lot of flashbacks. Yet it does fit everything else...

My Heart is Beating or Karneval might be something you'll like as well. And I double-recommend Annarasumanara and Juuni Kokki (last which is a light novel).

I took a lot into consideration and put a bunch on my wish list. Some I am currently reading. Since the last time I've posted I've gone on another hunt. Going through forums, searching through keywords, advanced searches. I've found some real jems. Most of which I haven't even put on my lists.

This thread http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.phptid=35393&pa ge=1&hl=intelligent+clever+female+character#post557135 helped me in my time of longing for the most part, but other things I desired continued to elude me.

I've updated my first post with things I was really looking for. Thanks for all the kindness and consideration given to me with the prior recs. I hope more people can help me. bigrazz

Yes, as long as a week already passed you could bump.

As for manga that fulfill your requirements :
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - "Kono Watashi no Mono Tonare, Yuusha yo" "Kotowaru!"

Quote from Sorcha

Gotta second that.

------
For the craft\manipulative female I can think of:
Kanojo wa Sore o Gaman Dekinai
Shihou Sekai no Ou

But the first one has some mature moments and the other has some fanservice... I guess you didn't want that.

Well, it's a good thing I can count. bigrazz

@Sorcha It seems alright so far. Thanks for your rec.

@ Jahu. Yeah, not really big on fanservice and the like. For some reason I feel ill when I see it and I've been avoiding those two. But I might give it a try sometime. Thank you.

@ TenebrisR. I'll be sure to check it out.

Anyone elseconfused

Anyway, thanks to everyone that has given a rec. I really appreciate it. biggrin

Well, I'm not too sure, but first one I had to think of was Blood+. As for the reasons ...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
First off, the female main character Saya matches your description more or less perfectly, while her male counterpart seems to take only a supporting role so far, but blends smoothly into fights and therefore brings their relationship almost to an equal level during those moments. Aside from this, Sayas nature brings her near your ideal character: She can be inhuman by times, but acts mostly rather determined and keeps her own plans in mind, even if this means to act cruel. Also, the world of Blood is in the beginning quite realistic, there are good elements (your usual people living the usual life) and dark sides - Which can't even be imagined by most people, but are still there and not just some kind of nightmare, so things are more or less well-balanced.

As for the things, that make me a bit unsure: Well, Saya is a vampire and the psycho character may not be to your liking ...

I've watched the anime of Blood+. Never read the manga, but Blood+ had been my threshold into the world of manga gore. Actually, I never finished it but I've been exposed to way too many spoilers. Also, the term "vampire" just doesn't cut it with them. Although it's roughly the same. I'll come back to this one day.

It was also one of my first tragedies (again, the world of eastern comics).

Also,

The stuff that's numbered are individual requests for I do not expect to find these things in one work.
So I'm looking for any manga that has at least one one of those things. That's not too much of a stretch?

I welcome more requests. Also, my On-Hold List is growing and I need some mega-motivation to finish a lot of them. I sometimes pick through them but I don't know if any of them really fit what I want because when starting this I never really gave the main stuff and focused too heavily on my ideal. No matter what I read, I always come back to the idea of "equality" and have a fear of disappointment despite the comments written below a work. I don't want spoilers just a reassurance to keep looking.
