Very sad news arrived today. Jean Giraud aka Moebius passed away at the age of 73. For those unfamiliar with his work, he was one of the greatest artists and writers on the european comic scene. His famous work include Blueberry, Incal, Arzach.
Great loss. cry

Was gutted to hear this, guy is one of my biggest influences and comic heroes - I had hoped I might have the chance to meet him one day but I guess not now.

Also it's worth noting that Giraud was has left a considerable impact on manga, the science-fiction genre in particular. His style and the European approach in general saw artists such as Katsuhiro Otomo, Tsutomu Nihei, Taiyo Matsumoto and Jiro Taniguchi taking on a much more cinematic feel and pace to their work, as well as exploring different styles on inking not-then common in manga.

He was also good buds with Hayao Miyazaki!
