I can't put it in words well, but something that doesn't follow the same conventional story structure that most series do. For example shoujo romance revolves around two people and their relationship. All the rest is secondary. Something that concentrates on one person and the things that he/she experiences during his/her life and the people he/she meets and that sort of stuff.
