Hi, I'm looking for an anime or manga series where the PROTAGONIST is an intelligent leader of an organisation, army, country, etc.

Examples:
Code Geass - Lelouche, leader of a revolutionary army (best example probably)
Sanctuary - Hojo, a yakuza don
Utawarerumono - Hakuoro, king (better if he was less reluctant)
Gundam 08th MS Team - Shiro Amada, commanding officer of a military unit.

EDIT: I'm not not talking about one of the main character, it needs to be the main character, the protagonist, otherwise it defeats the purpose of asking for a series with a leader as the protagonist. Heaps of series of leaders as one of the main characters.

Thank you

If you liked Sanctuary, you could try also Crying Freeman ( same author same artist, as far as I remember, interesting plot ).
And Hellsing ( Integra is as important as Alucard ).

Does a demon king count? laugh ( Seimaden, but probably too shoujo-ish for you )

Well, try Death note, it's not exactlly what you want, but Light is like Lelouch in the fact that he wants to create a new world order and the other character L is also kinda like Lelouch in the fact that he's a genius.

Berserk
You'll really like Griffith. Leader of a mercenary group.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
becomes an antagonist later in the series, though

lol i wouldn't exactly call Light stupid either. deathnote is more of a cat and mouse game between two geniuses (in part one). you can ignore part 2 as it gets dumbed down a bit. its also completed so you can finish it soon.

actually if you liked code gaess (and lelouch) you'll probably like deathnote.

Yeah, I watched Death Note (I don't think the manga is different enough to read it as well, am I wrong?). I stopped a couple episodes after the timeskip though.

Yeah, but I consider Gutts, Casca, and Griffith to kinda be the three main protagonists in the Band of the Hawk arc.
