Earlier this year (March to be precise), Tokyopop Germany sent out a list of
230 manga titles (both licensed and unlicensed titles) to manga scanlators
and download sites, and requested the listed titled be removed.

Fast forward to October, Kuriousity
has revisited
the list of manga and concluded that out of the 230 titles,
27 titles have not been officially licensed yet.

Check here for the full list, and
here for the list of 27
titles not yet licensed.

Ugh. TP keeps licensing, even though they plan to lower the amount of volumes they publish every month... *sigh*
They better not go around 'suspending' even more titles...

Thank goodness for those who scan anyway. I imagine if everyone quit when they were told, I wouldn't have anything to read. XD

There are still a few titles on that list of 27 that I'd like to see licensed. I just like having books on my shelf so much better than on my hard drive.

I still have hope for TP, despite their restructuring/delaying/whatever. For now I'll keep buying manga and supporting them so that the titles I like to read can keep getting printed. (also, not all of these have been licensed by TP—a few are from other publishers as well)

I don't care if it is Tokyopop, I'd definitely buy Acony.

Here's to hoping for another Toume Kei license.

It would be nice if they licensed Yamada Tarou Monogatari.

So what, these are licensed in German...? This is the first I've seen of this, and, er, my groups does several of those titles...

No, many of these titles are indeed licensed in Germany but NOT published by Tokyopop in Germany. Some arent even licensed, too.

I don't know why they used Tokyopop.germany to send these letters, maybe it has something to do with some country-specific laws?

But go TP! Please crush these licensed scanlators!:<

It's total bull#%$, becouse i live in Poland and here there is less then 40 titles on shelves, if there wasn't any scanlation what would I read. Besides anime dvdrips are also illegal but who cares they still rip'em. What for i dont know becouse there is TV versions translated already.

Oh how I hate tokyopop. Even though I don't really read any of those titles, TP still sucks.

I'm from Germany, on my shelf I have more than 1000€ worth of manga, but guess what dear Tokyopop and Co., I don't have the money to buy anything anymore.

Sure, I'd like to complete my Air gear DVD collection too, but no money means no money, so it's no loss to you if I read scanlations and watch fansubs or not, since I wouldn't be able to afford your products anyway.

If people really like a series and have the money to buy it, they will buy it, that's why I think going around telling people to stop scanlating is stupid, the people who leech manga and never buy anything wouldn't have bought them if there was no scanlation either, furthermore does not everyone have access to the books they want even if they are willing to buy them, e.g. I like the German language and stuff, but I like English even more, so I'd rather buy the English version (only after I checked with some people if it really is worth buying Dx) than the German one, but finding shops that sell those at a decent price isn't all that easy either.

So really, I don't see why people should stop scanlating just because a series got scanlated, it's free advertisement and people can actually see if they really want to buy a series or not, because if in doubt I'd sooner not buy it than try my luck and waste money.
