This poll was submitted by our member StarlightDreams. So why would you drop a manga series? Just choose your top choice, please. (And I realize that there isn't a whole broad spectrum of choices either).

You can discuss this poll on our forums here:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=10088

And if you got some interesting poll ideas, please submit them here:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Do you use our manga lists feature?
Choices:
Yes! - votes: 5186 (60.4%)
No... - votes: 673 (7.8%)
Uhhh, what's that? - votes: 2725 (31.7%)
There were 8584 total votes.
The poll ended: January 31st 2009

So many people use the list feature! That's a good thing! For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about. First, you need to be a registered member of this site (it's free and easy!). Then on the right menu, click "My Lists". You can create lists for the manga you're reading so that it's easier to keep track of things.

More features to come hopefully soon~

All of the above (except the time issue and slow releases) - but the main reason I drop a series is when the fanservice (and related stuff - harem/etc) becomes so ramped up that it's arguably the focal point of the series, rather than the plot.

Example: Rosario+Vampire. 'Nuff said.

Really depends.

I'll read something with no plot if it's interesting (See: Gantz), but if something with plot becomes bad, or the plot becomes bad, I'll stop for that.

Well, with me, it's definitely more than one option. I dropped Naruto because it got boring, I lost interest, the series kept going on. I've never dropped a series because I didn't have time, though I have dropped some series because the story wasn't as good as I thought. And, unwillingly, I drop series because nobody scanlates them anymore. It makes Axl sad.

Not true. Fanservice became the focale point in the anime only. the manga still had a plot.

normally i'll press through a boring series until it gets interesting again.. and I don't really hold anything against bad art. but if the story turns bad (like in some shoujos where a girl falls in love with a guy who basically rapes her), then i'll stop..

Even then the anime's fanservice was terrible.

i want to pick all of the options except the no time to read it one.
negima is an example of it got boring/lost interest,

idc what anyone says i cant stand one pieces artwork.

slow releases are usually due to lack of scanlators and i still keep up with them ie vinland saga (i never can tell who's dropped it or picked it up), but i never start a brand new series for fear of slow releases.

story turning bad isnt an issue for me most of the time its just a bad arc but one after another ... im lookin at bleach for that one.

inuyasha is clear cut example of a series that never ends. i could forgive ranma since it was a comedy but inuyasha wasnt and it was just repetitive

thats what i think, i guess if i had to pick one... i guess ugly art is something you decide at the begining of the series so thats not really feasible.

i guess boredom and being dropped are the biggest issues i have with series.

No surprise on the result again~ The lists are awesome.

As for the new poll, I'll refrain from voting for now. I've never dropped a series, no matter how bored I was, because I have OCD and I just can't. xD I guess I'll consider it and vote for why I wished I could drop it. xD

I have dropped series in the past because the fansubs available for the later chapters were so badly translated that it turned from ridiculously funny to unreadable repetitive crap. (eg. Violinist of Hameln, but the guy subbing it was using the best translations he could find and doing it for free, so can't complain)
Mind you I almost dropped Berserk at the 3rd volume for the same reason, so meh smile
Things like art usually get better as a series goes on, and people get used to drawing the characters, get more assistants, switch to monthly if they want to draw more detail, etc.

I dropped Air Gear for the this reason. The story got too convoluted and the characters became extremely annoying.

For example, I once stopped reading a manga because the translations were horrible, and I although I am a translator myself I couldn't find the RAWs. That's why a lot of the work I do now (because I can't keep up with a regular release schedule) is re-translate chapters of badly scanlated manga for groups to re-release.

Shameless plug: If you have any work for me, feel free to ask! And I may or may not get back to you within the year ~_^
