firestalker writes: OneManga has a section of their forum for self-made manga. You can look for a writer or an artist and/or post your own manga you've been working on. It seems to be doing well so far. Quite a few stories of high quality have popped up that would probably not have known about otherwise.

lambchopsil: I should note that self-made manga is NOT allowed to be added as a series on MangaUpdates. The only exception is if it is being published by a reputable publisher.

Sooo, is this just like webcomics? confused

I think this is an intriguing alternative. But right now it seems like it still in the works since everything seems so messy there. Hopefully things will get more organized later down the road for them.

To make sure that no one tries to add any of these to the database?

It is nice for aspiring artists to have an outlet.
Too bad most of it will be crap.
To those who actually make something out of it, don't let the rest get you down. Get published and make a million. ^_^

I'm a little confused... Why does it have to be about making money? Maybe these people just have stories they want to tell and they are using that forum and outlet to advertise them.

I suggested the link simply as a "get it out there" thing. Maybe there are a lot of people here that have stories they want to tell, but didn't OneManga was doing that. Or maybe there is an artist out there willing to draw for someone that has no artistic ability [like me].

I've posted a couple of story ideas there not for monetary gain, but because I want people to read them. I also want people to enjoy them, but that's even harder to do then actually writing the thing.

I also don't see how anyone is stupid for going there or posting. Yes, majority will most likely suck, but it's not like you have to read it and it's not like they're doing it to get published [there are better ways to do that]. Besides, there is talk of POSSIBLY hosting the manga on OneManga using their viewer. A possibility only, nothing is concrete there since it's still new.

I just don't understand why some the comments are so hostile here.

thevampirate was not calling the people that go there stupid... just people that might try to add any of them to the database at MangaUpdates. So, it's not about the people that actually go there and write the stories that those comments are directed at.

This is really interesting to see the independent Mangaka's manga in the internet.
Still, they should publish their works on a publisher just to earn bucks and even gain even more fans. smile

Well, take a look at it, I found no art just masses of text everywhere.
Not even rough sketches,,, It has nothing to do with manga... >.>

It's the only manga people can look forward to at OneManga

Doesn't mean it's not an opportunity for those who don't abuse it.
