Yeah. If they lose enough readers a publisher WILL drop their series. If it happens once to an author, be wary of it happening again with them. If it happens twice.....then it's starting to become their tendency to make series that get axed endings (which very often don't even make sense).
An axed ending can be okay for a series not read for it's story, but just for mindless action. The ending really is important for those of us who read FOR the story.

Almost all CLAMP's works have either dissapoiting endings or none at all. :/ Even knowing that, I still read it (which is why I answered 'Yes' in this poll). I'm glad there are other people, who support the "got bored with the story and were rushing to end it, so they can start a new one" theory. I know that finishing stories this long and complicated must be really hard and that's what I tell myself every time, I come across one of those endings. The only time I was really pissed was with xxxHolic. Actually, I'm still angry about it. And no, Watanuki appearing in other running series sure as Hell won't appease my anger! But it works for most of the fans, so maybe I'm just a black sheep.
