In a few days is the infamous April Fools' Day (April 1st). At MU, we WILL NOT tolerate any fake/joke releases being reported/announced to us. If we, by accident, allow a fake release to get through, please report the mistake to us (either via a Change Request form, through the forum, post a comment in this news post, or you can email me at lambchopsil[at]mangaupdates[dot]com if you are not a registered member here).
As you have been warned against doing it, if we discover a person still attempting to post a joke release here, that person will be dealt with. Severe action will be taken upon that scanlation group.
Thank you for considering our request to remain as accurate as possible for our members.
Some people seem to think this news post is a joke or something similar. I assure you, I am being totally serious. Don't take it lightly.
And we can figure out if someone is trying to frame a group. We're not naive, so don't even try.

I always get annoyed when this day comes, people think they make funny jokes, but they forget that their is a limit for everything. And most of the time it's just plain bullying.
I like funny jokes, but not everyone has talent for humor, and if you don't know how, then don't do it. All jokes that have a negative effect on the day after the 1st of April are not funny (this includes all posts and updates on Mangaupdates).
And please don't waste food, damaging property, or etc.

More like there are too many people with no true sense of humor. They end up taking the most moronic of acts as humor then take it way to far. Usually they then complain about it when people hold it against them.
I'm definitely not a fan of that day either.

Agreed. People just want to use April Fool's Day as an excuse to do whatever dumb thing they want...
I have a bunch of projects due on the 1st...If anyone tries to prank me while I work on them, I'm going to throw something large and heavy at them. >_>

It would be curious to see what kind penalty this site could do that has any real effect. Delisting a group has little effect because most people use the aggregator read sites already and those sites are taking over many of mangaupdates' most important functions such as listing NEW manga, listing new chapters of ongoing manga, and providing descriptions. Looking at their user forums, one can even say those other sites have a wider variety of people than here.
Some of the possible punishments this site could do would actually have a rebound effect that is negative as it would drive people to use the aggregator site features that mimic a lot of what mangaupdates does. When mangaupdates chooses to punish scanlators by removing scanlation listings or making listings here less accuracy (timeliness) here, it actually punishes the remaining loyal users more than the scanlators who get users reading at the aggregators anyways.
