In shounen manga, a lot of times there's some kind of big tournament in the series whether it's martial arts or sports or some other kind of tournament. Which one is your favorite. Mine's the Dark Tournament in Yu Yu Hakusho.

Hmm, I wouldn't call it a tournament, but a 'friendly Kendo match' between Kojirou's and his sempai's girls' teams. From Bamboo Blade. It was funny~

I don't like tournament arcs because they're unnatural and feel pointless. Why would the bad guy that want to destroy the world wait until he wins a tournament to apply his evil scheme? why give the good guys a chance to get to the finals and grow stronger with each round until they are finally able to beat him?
And why does luck (or other reasons depending on the manga) make it so that the protagonist and antagonist face off only in the finals?
It,s just way too cliché-ed but yeah... admit that I got used to it. And I accept it reading it. But I find it to be a bad "filler" for an author lacking imagination.
Having said that, the tournament I enjoyed the most was the first tournament in dragon ball... there was no fate of the earth on the line, and was just purely funny.(If I remember correctly)
