Instead of completely excluding meat, it is also a very nice solution to just cut down on how much meat you eat. You could choose to eat meat only twice a week and still remain very healthy. The modern human eats much more meat than necessary. As a bonus you could buy ecological meat to at least give the animals some life quality. eyes Don't need to be drastic to make a change.

These ethical debators, just watch Earthlings, you are clearly people who have eyes and ears and morals. I distinctly remember saying I could never become vegetarian and vegan is just weird, I had all of your arguments and no doubts.

I still don't have any doubts, and I know that if you brought yourself to watch Earthlings, there would be no way you could still have doubts about eating meat, or not eating meat. Earthlings is the harsh and horrifying truth of what we eat and were it comes from.

Saw it, i think it's trash. It easy to make a point when nobody can correct you, just show them what you want them to see and that's it.

"Hey let's make a fortune by showing obvious things to gullible people", that's the kind of feeling i get.

Think about it this way, to cultivate a land you need the land (duh). Now, try and guess what's the main reason for deforestation and ecosystem destruction.

If you said: "To clean land and use it for cultivating" then you are right (if you tough it was to make paper or something among the lines, then let me tell you that most of the wood used for that comes from forest that were made for that reason). And there is no easy solution for that one, you can stop eating if you want, or eat from an "organic bio friendly farm", but try and feed all the people on the word with that, or try telling then not to eat ever again laugh

Well you can always just kill a few millions of us, that would probably solve the food shortage till we populate the planet again.

Been a veg or not is a first word problem anyway, it comes way behind, "lets see if i can eat this weak".

And what with that "people eat a little to much meat", unless you are taking into account cheap sausages made out of nothing but fat then it seems like we live in two different words.

I'm sorry if i got a little rough, or if it seems like i'm trying to push my beliefs on people, but i get tired of people seeing the problems they want to see, the ones that seems easy to solve and just ignore the real problem, the ones that is not solved even if you ignore it.

If all the people on the word started eating nothing but vegetables (regardless of what you might had hear) we would run out of land for cultivation in years, and even more forest would go down, till there is no more land (cos it takes way longer than a few years for the earth to get back on shape) and we die of starvation. That (in a smaller scale) is what happen to the Mayas, the biggest most advanced civilisation of of Precolumbian South America. (yeah, they were long gone when Spain take the lands). I won't deny that a lot of forest go down in order to make room for cows, but at least as long as the demand doesn't increase (and is going to anyway but that is also not a problem we can solve with out making sex illegal) the same land can be used a lot more that in the case of cultivation.
This is already a problem right now and originals concepts such as under water farms had come to light as possible solution, needless to said all solution (except a food making machine) mean nothing in long terms due to our tendency to multiply our numbers

I give as an example fishes a few post ago, if one kind of fish hit it well in a river, they would soon take control of all the food supplies (regardless of what kind of food), they number would grow a lot, but in the other hand the food would be harder to found, this goes on till there is no food on the river and they all die (or eat each others, like some kind of salamander). This is going to happen to us sooner or later, till there is a limitless source of food (and that is probably not going to happen), so regardless of what you put in your mouth we are all doomed (well not us but our sons, but i tough that was the point of the whole veg thing, since the ones who are going to see the effects of whatever decision we made are them)

People on the internet need to learn to spell better.

Can't help having English as my third language that i learn on the Internet.
You won't believe this but i burst with laughing when i read your post, the other day i was talking with a friend about having a discussion on the net and he told me word by word "Cuando me quedo sin argumentos critico su ortografia"

Meaning: "When i'm out of arguments i just criticize they orthography"

I'm not implying anything (believe me, i know it sound like that, but i'm not) i just remember it and tough it was funny.

I also forgot to mention that we are only going to see the food shortage if we survive the water shortage.

TL;DR (for this an the other post): Regardless of what decision you take humanity is not going to last forever (nor a long time for that matter)

Fair enough. As long as you at least attempt to spell correctly instead of just guessing like a lot of people I don't really care.

Anyway, we've been here like a hundred million years or maybe 3 million, I forget what they say now. (Or 7000 for ceratin people, which could still be considered long) So we've had a good run. If we don't all die out we will evolve into crazy robots flying in space or crazy spirits flying around spirit space.

Edit: for those that say you need meat to be healthy: complete bullcrap. I've been a vegetarian since the day i was born 22 years ago and I'm perfectly healthy. Definitely moreso than all you obese people out there. (I see you reading this)

If plants tasted as good as bacon I'd give it a chance.
I'd probably not have all the self-importance found in radical vegans, but that might be because I'm not doing it to save animals, but to partake in a renewable source of bacon-substitute.

I don't think there is anything wrong with being a vegetarian, but neither do I see anything wrong with being omnivorous. Animals eat animals too. Sometimes they even eat their own kind, or their own children.

Yes, the cruelty with which many animals we eat are killed is wrong, and morally speaking, we should be making sure that the animals we eat were raised decently and killed as quickly and humanely as possible, though I admit I don't go that far myself--too lazy, I guess, and/or too cheap.

But that is distinct from whether it is wrong to eat meat at all. It is natural and this is not an instinct that I intend to overcome nor one that I feel morally obliged to.

@RattixEmpire

I wonder where recommending a diet stops and trying to push unto people an unnatural lifestyle due to your own religionish zealotry starts. Just a thought.

The actual reply i wanted to make is this:

I'm much more scared of the part of the cheap burger that is not made of beef. Or of anything slaughtered. And I'd rather never learn that truth. Did you know some wieners are made of whole chickens with the feathers. Bet that information would make people thing before they eat one and the thoughts won't be ones of pitying the chicken... even if it could appretiate Mozart.

This whole thread can be answered with this one question.
Would a lion eat tree bark because it felt bad for eating a zebra?

But cows are delicious <3.
And rather than controlling what people eat I think stopping mass industrialization would help this Earth a lot more.

I don't think that is true, because more land is used to grow food for animals than for humans. the amound of food a cow eats until it is slaughtered could feed more people than the cow itself.

"Hey let's make a fortune by showing obvious things to gullible people" You watch it for free on the net. The official site has it to watch for free. What's so trash about it? All the footage of real life cruelty? Man, that stuff is booooooring, huh? Lucky no one can "Correct" the makers of that doco, otherwise everyone would just mindlessly consume and contribute to an industry of cruelty.
Oh wait...

To claim "If all the people on the word started eating nothing but vegetables (regardless of what you might have heard) we would run out of land for cultivation in years, and even more forest would go down, till there is no more land" is completely non-sensical. For the first world, anyone with a house can have a veggie garden and get pretty much all the fruit and veggies they need from there instead of having a patch of grass just to look pretty and soak up water.

"so regardless of what you put in your mouth we are all doomed"

What a fantastic perspective. So there's no point making an effort to do what I believe is right for the planet because "we're all doomed" anyway? Congratulations, you've successfully deluded yourself into thinking that what you do is acceptable... not only that, but you have the nerve to attack someone who hasn't taken the whole "Screw it, we're all doomed anyway" approach.

"I wonder where recommending a diet stops and trying to push unto people an unnatural lifestyle due to your own religionish zealotry starts. Just a thought."

It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle. Go drink some of your mothers breast milk and then you can come back to me and argue that drinking milk is natural.

Just a thought.
