While re-reading Skip Beat, I realized how much I love the parts where the female lead is actually in her acting job and progressing as an actor.
So, I went up to look up some Showbiz/Acting series with the use of the tags, but a lot of them were very cliche, and dealt very little with the actually showbiz and acting world itself... more about the cliched romance and drama. I'm specifically looking for series with the majority of time focused on the actual acting/showbiz aspect rather than the romance. I actually want to see the character develop as a star. Something like Haruka Seventeen, Glass Mask, and Skip Beat.
I've read:
Skip Beat
Ashita no Ousama (this is a favorite of mine)
Penguin Revolution
Charming Junkie
Glass Mask (another favorite)
Candy Candy
Cat Street (another favorite - THE BEST)
Chiro Star Project
Honey Hunt
Kodomo no Omocha (another favorite)
W Juliet
Princess Ai
Paradise Kiss
Nana (which was a tad bit too much drama for me, but I still liked - just not my usual cup of tea)
Full moon wo Sagashite
Tenshi no Kiss (which is actually dancing, but I included it anyway because I actually liked it)
Haruka Seventeen (which I just finished and thought was a superb portrayal of an actress' progress in showbiz...)
P.A.
Perferably no smut, yaoi or yuri unless they're VERY related to acting/showbiz
I prefer completely scanlated series. I really can't find anymore good ones....

I know these aren't mostly acting- but these are showbiz as well- you'll probably like them?

Mishounen Produce- modeling, a bit of acting- very good art
[m]Kiarin Revolution- singing and acting
[m]Aozora Pop -modeling
[/m]Cocoa! -modeling
[m]Charisma Doll - Singing?kinda
[/m]teppen! - singing
Some of these are completed- others need to wait a while before there are more releases- hope this helps......if it doesn't...I can hopefully remeber more
