What I'm telling you, is to learn to use better words for expressing your opinion.
Think about your statement and remarks before mentioning it publicly.

Listen to your own words.

Apparently, now when a girl gets horny and she can't get a man, we turn to our own gender? Not all of us lean that way -.- Being bisexual isn't a choice, as much as some would like to think. Talking to anyone in the LGBT community will assure you of that. You'd also be quite surprised as to how many men are bisexual, it's fairly equal between the sexes but men (often due to social constructs) are quieter about it.

And now we also apparently turn into "sluts" to satisfy our desires? I don't even care how you meant that, the connotation of that word is extremely offensive.

I'll agree that Ibleda was exaggerating extremely in that statement. It's the only point on which we stand on the same ground.

Now, for the ecchi:

It's alright, I guess? The whole "panty-shot," "accidentally groping," and "walking in on the person getting dressed" thing are beyond overdone. Though I will applaud Cage of Eden for one reason, you get a very nice fanservice moment for the female part of the audience.

Really, I don't care if it's there or not, I either don't notice or try not to let it get in the way of my reading the manga for the plot. Really, if the plot sucks, why would I bother buying the book? You don't really need ecchi, it's just a pretty flare you add to attract attention.

To let the cat out of the bag, ecchi is comedy for the reason of laughing at the protags suffering. Its funny due to the after effects when the perverted dude gets his hopes up, or gets happy from seeing certain parts. The relapse consists of his body, hopes, or soul being broken, or him saying something absurdly destructive to his own well being. Basically ecchi comedy is sadistically laughing at grieving dudes.

Also chicks can't say craps about ecchi. Smut manga is WAAAAYYYY more dirty and rape prone. Ecchi shows panties, smut in shoujo/josei has full blown sex and its forced a lot. So before griping about our flaws, clean up your hypocritical side of the argument.

I usually don't care that much for ecchi. A given series can be more than interesting and addictive without the use of pretentious perverted gags aimed towards teen and young adult males.

But, I don't mind if a series uses a scene of ecchi-esque material in a given scene just to liven things up a bit.

I agree with most of your comment. It makes a lot of sense. (My sense of humor just doesn't go that way. I dislike it for the same reason I dislike slapstick. It seems forced and silly.)

However, I do have to disagree with this one bit here.

Ecchi certainly does NOT equal Smut. In fact, I'm not sure there's any real comparison, but the closest you could get is Hentai (which is written for a largely male demographic) although the focus of Hentai is mostly on explicitly portrayed sex acts where smut usually has more "story" if you can call it that (mostly because for girls, their fantasies are often as much about the journey as the destination. XD)

Rough Comparison Chart:
(rough because they can't really be equated with each other)

EXPLICIT:
= Hentai (aimed mostly at boys) = Smut (aimed mostly at girls)
= Yaoi (girls, some boys) = Yuri (boys, some girls)

LESS-EXPLICIT/NOT EXPLICIT
= Shounen-Ai (mostly girls, some boys) = Shoujo-Ai (mostly boys, some girls)
= Ecchi (mostly boys) = Average Shoujo fanservice * (mostly girls)

* [i.e., shirtless boys, girls falling on top of boys, accidental kisses, caring for poor, sick bishie, etc.]

As evidence I cite MU's definitions for both genres:

Ecchi: Possibly the line between hentai and non-hentai, ecchi usually refers to fanservice put in to attract a certain group of fans.

Smut: Deals with series that are considered profane or offensive, particularly with regards to sexual content.

The majority of those who hate ecchi are either female or mature males.

Fixed that for you.

I don't hate all ecchi, but I hate when it's there just to keep the horny 15 year olds interested in an otherwise good story. I wish authors would show a little more respect to their female characters and a little more respect to the intelligence of their readers.

I didn't say anything wrong there. You failed to comprehend my words.
I never said "all" the girls. I mentioned about the "Bisexual" girls, so I was obviously talking about them.

I'm still fairly sure that there are more bisexual girls than bisexual guys.
And yes, it is a choice for girls to turn to their own gender for their sexual satisfaction.

There are many real life experiences and stories that tells that the women turned to their gender just for the sake of sexual satisfaction. Many of them were never interested in their gender, but the moment some other girl/woman got a chance to "eat them", they stopped thinking about anything else other than than the pleasure they experienced in the process.
So yeah, it is a choice they made for their pleasure and satisfaction by starting to visit them again and again behind the back of their boyfriends and husbands.

.

Yes, many girls turn into "sluts" to 'satisfy their sexual desire'. What else do you thing make them to act like a 'slut'?

It doesn't matter whether you feel offended or not. You're obviously a girl, so you simply find it offending.
But that doesn't mean I should hesitate to mention the right thing for the sake of girls.

I'm not here to please anyone, but to state the truth.

If a girl/woman acts like a 'slut' (i.e., like a promiscuous girl/woman), then she'll be called a "slut".
I'm not going to call her "Oh my Pure Lady" just to please her.

A person who steals things from others is called a "thief", a person who kills others is called a "murderer", a person who keeps acting foolishly is called an "idiot" and so on
We call people according to their deeds and behavior, and you don't stand a chance against this very obvious fact. You can't deny it no matter how you think or feel.

Hope that clears my point!

I don't care whether a series has ecchi or not as long as it's good and the fanservice doesn't detract from the story (like wasting a chapter for those beach/onsen fanservice). A few series actually use ecchi to great effect though, like Sora no Otoshimono. The ecchi in that series never really feels over the top due to how over the top the protag's actions are in comparison.

Hentai is anything with explicit sex. Smut doesnt show the details, and thus is the closest to ecchi. The main reason being, its the only way to increase sexual content since all the dudes are already covered in water and shirtless more often than the twilight cast. Ecchi rarely even removes clothing, and hentai is gender neutral so it can't have a sex specific counterpart.

Girls
Regular>smut>hentai
Guys
Regular>ecchi>hentai.

Ecchi is the guys line between, and smut is the girls. Chicks just keep it closer to hentai for the most part.

Faceless male characters with everything but their phallic members left out of the panels definitely help that argument.

It depends on one's point of view.

For you, the question "suggests" the term "always".

For others, it's just a generalization.

And for those only concerned with the term, ecchi is simply humorous and a bit erotic.

I think you're getting sidetracked. When a manga is labelled as 'smut' it's instantly understood that the story is mainly about the physical relations of the main character with others. Nobody tries to pass off smut scenes as funny and it is NOT meant to be funny. While ecchi does just that. Where exactly is the hypocrisy here?!

Quote from HitsujinoHon
Girls have a greater "Sexual drive" than males when they get horny, for your information.
That's the reason many of them turn into so-called "sluts" to fulfill their sexual desire.

In other words, girls could be way more 'sex minded' than guys.
You'll find only a few "Bi Males" but a ton of "Bi Girls".
When the girls don't get enough from males, they turn toward their own gender, girls, for their fulfillment.

Conclusion:

Majority of guys are - perverted (level varies from 'a little bit perverted' to "disgustingly perverted")

Majority of girls are - sex minded (level varies from 'a little bit sex minded' to "a complete slut")

This is such utter bullshit. Where did you get all this info from? Probably from all the pornos you frequently check out. Its a known fact that girls derive both a physical and emotional pleasure from a relationship. This tends to make women have only one partner at a time and for a long time too. 'Many girls turn into sluts'?!
Please do not apply your skewed data to brand 'majority of girls' as sex-minded.
Maybe you should try interacting with an actual girl to get some 'real' data.

SO your statements are juvenile and completely laughable. Before you shoot off with your 'theories', try and atleast verify the facts. smile
