Do you think manga romances would actually last?

Just for the hell of it, I was wondering what people think the lifespan of average "Twu Wuv" romances in manga would be.

For example, Harem leads that actually make a decision...most of them would probably break up in less than a month, because they'd either get caught groping another girl, or the rest of their harem would have absolutely no respect for the male's "taken" status.

A lot of shonen romances would be hilariously awkward (assuming the girl actually manages to spit it out). The guy would be completely clueless about her feelings, she wouldn't be able to say anything at all...so you'd have two people dating that can't actually talk to each other.

So yeah, apply a little reality to manga, is there anyone that can have a stable lasting relationship beyond the confession?

I think you've got a point. I looked at my reading list, and I honestly can only think of one manga where a relationship/potential relationship would work in real life. All the other ones would simply not last or wouldn't happen in the first place.

In Chihayafuru, I can see Taichi and Chihaya actually working. They both share a common interest and are both smart, and unlike Arata he's willing to stay with her and work around her density. Not only that, but unlike Arata he's able to actually balance her passion for Karuta. I can't see Arata and Chiha working out because having two people so obsessed with something that they can't think of anything else wouldn't work out.
