So have you guys heard about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie that Michael Bay is making... except that instead of them being mutant turtles, they're aliens. I don't think I'll be watching this one, what about you guys?

I didn't read the article >> sounds like people aren't really expecting much out of it lol.
Personally I wouldn't mind watching it rather than judging it before it comes out.
We should be thankful that they're aliens and not Live-action lmfao. Live-action TMNT would seriously fail.

...But there were live-action TMNT movies. And the first one is considered pretty good. (They dropped in quality after.)

It will be interesting to see how this movie turns out. The transformation to aliens has two major issues that I am curious to learn how they'll sort: the rest of the cast (Splinter, Shredder, and all the other Ooze afflicted creatures,) and the question of why they're 'ninjas' when they had to have a certain level of technology to make it to Earth.
Pretty safe to say that, at least for the first issue, Earth is going to end up becoming an alien battleground. Perfect for Bay, he gets to blow up everything with laser guns now. Don't know why he had to go grab an existing IP to do it though. There was no reason to involve TMNT in this creation.

The previous TMNT live-actions were incredibly successful (aside from the modern, ridiculous one, which was a laughable CGI rendition).
TMNT 1: 13.5 million budget, 135 million gross.
TMNT 2 (secret of the ooze): 25 million budget, 80 million gross.
TMNT 3: 17 million budget, 43 million gross.
And all these numbers are solely box office profits, not including memorabilia, VHS/DVD or video game sales.
Even the weakest of them made over double its budget solely from cinemas. It's pretty clear there was a downward trend, but that wasn't due to live-action TMNT being laughable -- it was due to fail script-writers who try to churn out crap and brand it with a name they know will sell.

Lmfao wow I didn't notice there were live-actions. The costumes they're wearing are pretty good, not the ridiculous looking stuff I was imagining.
Anyway from what I remember I liked the original Shredder vs TMNT arcs. When it turns into time travel and futuristic cities I just blanked out lol.

True that. Pretty sure the guy who got a hold of TMNT was the same guy that got his hands on the animated Spiderman. Once you start tainting it with alternate dimensions and time travel it just gets... all convoluted and BLEH.
But yeah, you should check out the live-action if you ever liked TMNT. The first two movies aged surprisingly well. Not the best SFX for sure, but they have the core substance that many movies these days lack.
