but they could have easily moved towards a system where you actually take control of the pokemon in a real time battle similar to Custom Robo, with various environments and the like.

The main series is about being a trainer, not an actual Pokemon. I'd like to see a Pokemon game where you play as a Pokemon (different to the Mystery Dungeon games, they are fun but repetitive), but that's not what the main series is about. It's about you as a trainer giving orders to your Pokemon. As for story, yeah, that is my main problem with Pokemon. But then again, it is mostly aimed at kids, if they have a complex story then most of their target audience won't get it.

The only problem I have with the new games is the amount of Legendary pokemons. There also needs to be more "secret" places and stuff to uncover.

I'd prefer if the pokémon were far more automatised
and you'd pretty much have the impact how they behave
by training them and you'd need to be a strategic genius
to utilize the surroundings, pokémon size and so on, but
I guess that is too automatised. : D

If it stayed at 150 that would be boring. I say the more the better. I'm looking forward to the day Pokemon reach the 1,000 mark.

I think the recent pokemons are ugly.. lol that's my opinion. The old pokemons are more badass looking xD

I agree with most of the people here with the 151-251ish. The starter pokemon got more retarded and and they looked like they were trying to hard when they are coming out with pokemon now. My favourites will always be Ninetales Umbreon and Clefairy

i thought pokemon had that classic touch to it when it was 151.
when it went to 251, it was still very notable, as people were excited with new pokemons.
after they have like i dont know, about 1000? it just was like pointless.
they should have focused on new featured, rather then making new pokemons.
nobody have the time and patience to catch all 500 new pokemons they comes out every year

The fewer pokemons it had the better it was. Anyways, I stopped caring about the franchise when I got out of elementary school and that was years ago.

It wasn't ridiculous when there was just 150, but now they just try to be WAY too flashy. none

After gold and silver it went down hill...

After Sapphire and Ruby it just got stupid...

I liked Gold and Silver. Ruby and Sapphire was okay, but it started getting ridiculous. Now every new generation of pokemon look crazier and crazier. They're all weird looking like psychedelic rainbow monsters on crack.

It seems the old games were more about the ambitious goal of catching all of the Pokémon, but the newer ones are more about becoming the most powerful.

So I guess it's more about a different game style, rather than the amount of Pokémon.
