Hmm... So you're a guy right? I think you might like [m] Watashi ni xx Shinasai[/m]. The art is good but i personally don't like it becuase I'm not even sure if its even shoujo anymore with all of these shonen themes scattered around. Though it starts of with a love triangle between two guys and one girl, but then this other pretty girl shows up that makes this love triangle into a love polygon as she is completely obsessed with the main guy. Add the big-boob fanservice and i highly think certain male audience may find themesves liking this shoujo. it is still considered shoujo after all. Don't know what happened in the end but i stopped half way. But then again i am recomending all of these mangas based on demographic. I noticed that although there are some things both guy and girl think in common, there are some things that still defferenciate their interest. Overall, I'd just recommend all girls who hate shonen to just read shonen mangas with shoujo themes like [m] Magico (Iwamoto Naoki) [\m] and guys who hate shoujo to just read shoujo mangas with shonen themes. Another shoujo example that guys might like is [m]Kyou Koi wo Hajimemasu[\m]. Yeah its a smut with a bad boy crap but i've seen a couple of male readers liking it due to all of these girls showing up all the time and always liking the main guy to the point that this so called shoujo manga is beginning to look like a harem. No, NOT reverse harem, but a harem with many girls fawning over one guy. And no, they are not like those side fangirls in general shoujo mangas who like the poppular guy for nothing. As in these girls have chapters reserved for their love towards the main guy that them coming and going like that began to look repetitive for me to the point where i actually feel bad for the main girl cuz she constantly have to fight for the man she loves almost every friggin' chapter.

Dude...i don't know about harems geared towards guys but i know some shoujo harems I've seen that is tagged with the "harem" sign yet when i read them, it simply has numerous bishounen around with one girl but, with the exception of one guy love interest, the rest of the guys would often just treat the main girl like protective older brothers, but not neccessarily force their way to the one person. Have you seen Fruits Basket? Seriously, I remember it's tagged as a "harem" here but once you read it, you'd just see a bunch of male characters introduced to the main girl but only one guy actually falls for her. I've mentioned this in my other reply but Ouran High School Host Club is also a highly recommended reverse harem even boys liked!!!

But then again, I know how you feel, I disliked most male-oriented harems because of the fact that they would often portray girls in unrealistic, almost obssessive ways, they also often don't end up with only one girl which I find very unfaithful and wrong (in some countries, they may accept polygamy but my personal opinion said something else otherwise). However, there is one male-oriented harem anime I seriously liked. It's so poppular I'm sure most people who come by this reply may immediately recognise it as well. CLANNAD Yes, unlike typical generic harem animes, this actually has likable females and is, for once, NOT ecchi. The the main guy is hella awesome. He's not those weak wussy male characters. He possess flaws in his characterization which doesn't make him that typical-Naruto-goody-two-shoes. Plus he ends up and even had a baby with the innocent female character that is NOT annoyingly tsundere. It made me cry, laugh, EVERYTHING!!! Especially the sequel, Clannad after story. Heck even GIRLS LOVE IT!!!

I haven't seen Kanon or Air but I heard its similar to Clannad in most ways but they are still considered harem though.

@natsuharu:
Natsuharu, i think your just a hater (though I guess everyone are), buy i can certainly tell you, suki desu susuki kun is no way a SMUT. Plus, Moe Kare actually has a pretty good plot with likable female lead. Though i agree with you about kyou koi wo hajimemasu, these smut examples you have given are mild ones. You ain't seen nothing yet he he....

As for myself, I am a major otaku who can pretty much accept any jappanese genres accept for, of course, yaoi, yuri, etc etc. (ones that are hated the most as far as I'm concerned here in this forum) things that involve gay lesbian coupling shit even though i have nothing against them in real life. I guess I am more critique towards the characters rather than the genre. Especially the main female ones (and sometimes the male protagonist) If i disliked them, then goodbye manga/anime.

reread the genres of suki desu dude,it's majorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr smut.Kyou koi is all about the damn fucking thing.
I am the same as you,can except any genres beside those, but I slipped the mangas out of my reading list if the situation doesn't go like what I wanted it to be, not the character.
P/S:moe kare female lead is no different from other epic shoujo manga(the prince/cinderella type) and she really bothers me.

WHAT THE FREAK?!?! Have you ever even seen Skip Beat and Kaichou wa Maid-sama?!?!? And these example are just a two pieces of sand grain compared to other hundreds of shoujo mangas out there. Though there are hella lots of crybaby heroines, i've also seen buttloads of ass-kicking shoujo heroines too ...

I tried watching Kaihou wa Maid-sama anime, but I hated it. The heroine is still a crybaby, just behind a tough mask. It's not any different/better from Kimi ni Todoke and the like.
In general I can't enjoy stuff where the female is presented as some inferior being that needs to be protected.

Then again it's not only shoujo but pretty much all of romance that sucks ass.

shojo/josei is too diverse a demographic to be tied to sparkly highschool romance
some examples: From Eroica With Love, Hot Road, Oooku, Kisshou Tennyo, Heaven's Son in the Land of the Rising Sun, A, A', Helter Skelter, Angel Sanctuary, Patalliro!, Mr. Veterinarian

Hm, if you absolutely detest the genre, then there's really no point in convincing you to think otherwise.

HOWEVER! If you're feeling very brave and want to try out a yaoi right away there's this:
10 Dance

And I guess for shounen-ai, no sausage fest of any kind. Just massaging that lover there...
Kare wa Suttokodokkoi

FLUP YEAH! Both are on-going...so I don't know.

I won't touch hentai, and I don't like ecchi. I avoid all titles that tag Romance together with Shounen/Seinen. For the most part, I think harems are really bad because there's no way you can introduce a dozen girls/guys without getting too cheesy or repetitive (I think Saiunkoku Monogatari and Ouran Host Club are rare exceptions).

Quote from zebaod
even I, female, couldn't stand yaoi or shonen ai genre... My friend love it so much and she recommend me to watch/read okane ga nai, loveless and kuroshitsuji, I know the series is great, it just feels... Wrong to me... Romance between cool handsome guy and weak boy (sorry, no offense for the fans), ...

This is a bit late, but here are some Yaoi/Shounen-ai suggestions:
I think it'd be easier for you to enjoy series that are a little less shotacon/fanservice and more storyline/character development so...
Golden Days
Ikemen-kun to Saenai-kun
Komatta Toki ni wa Hoshi ni Kike!
Silver Diamond
Super Lovers

and this is a real long shot, but:
Saezuru and it's prequel Tadayoedo Shizumazu, Saredo Naki mo Sezu
^
These two are real dark btw.

I dislike Shoujo Ai and Yuri. I also hate stories with incest in it.

The only Shoujo Ai worth reading that I can think of is Girl Friends. Even though the art style and the start may make it look bad/generic at first glance, I assure you it's a good manga definitely worth reading.

BL - From Eroica With Love - while this is technically BL, calling it BL is like calling Death Note a heterosexual love story or calling The Godfather a movie about Italian Americans. It's so much more than a BL manga. It is, as a reviewer says, "a genre-busting manga that appeals to readers of all kinds".

GL - Aoi Hana - it's written by a female artist and is a realistic, sensitive story of the relationship between two best friends and their peers.
