I was ten years old...

I can't remember the name of this series, but it was about three teens being trapped underground, in a subway tunnel. It was like, 110 in the tunnel, and outside they thought it must be like.. 200. Anyhow, this within itself wasn't disturbing, but then one of the characters tried to escape, and then in the dark there was this buddah face.... and it freaked me out. I had nightmares for a week.

Anyone know the name? Now that I am more into horror manga, and not 10, I wanna try reading it again.

kind of.

it doesn't scare me anymore, but when about a year ago (when I was 12), right after finishing gravitation, i decided to try out the megamix. of course, anyone who's read the megamix would know what i mean. i had only just been introduced to the shonen-ai/yaoi world, and gravitation to gravitation megamix was a HUGE jump.

of course, now i read all sorts of hardcore yaoi and i LOVE it (spend hours lusting over the smuttiest yaoi) so... i suppose i wasn't scarred for life, though back then i felt like i had been laugh

haven't read anything bad enough to scar me in the violence though. then again, i don't read/watch bersek and elfen lied.

I can agree with the Gravitation megamix wholeheartedly. It didn't scar me as such, just really freaked me out when I first saw it. I mean.....seriously. It's pretty extreme for someone who has only just been introduced to shounen-ai and yaoi.

Now I don't see anything wrong with it at all, and grab as much Gravi stuff as I can XD It was just that first time that was wierd and potentially scarring.

Oh, just remembered there is a part that scarred me for a little while. When I was about eight I was really into Yu Yu Hakusho, but I couldn't stand to see girls in any type of pain for some reason. You can probably guess how I felt when I got up to the part where they tortured Yukina. Good thing I wasn't reading Elfen Lied back then.

Before I actually used this site to filter through manga series, I just got random stuff that people had on irc. I learned what smut was the hard way...and I accidentally found out what yaoi was too. "Gosh, what these two boys say to each other sound like they like each other. That's odd. *go to the next page* Oh my God! *quickly delete the manga*" Never again shall I get random titles because it sounds pretty. (From my personal experience, a lot of yaoi/shounen ai titles sound pretty. Fools me all the time unfortunately... Yay for the filter button!)

yeah i did the same thing except what i downloaded was a bleach doujinshi so my reaction was "Hitsugaya, nooooo! eek "

the fact I knew the character was the most disturbing part for me, I can't really explain why.

Ah.. you just reminded me of one of my greatest nightmare/fear of my life - Elfen Lied. Still can't forgot the bloodiness of the story.. Um, maybe I did freaked out a bit when I first read Gravitation cos I seriously thought that Shuichi is a girl~ Haha, silly me..

I know how you feel. Those doujinshi titles always take my favorite characters. "Ooh, One Piece. *click* Oh, shoot, it's a DJ. No, stop loading! *sees the cover page* Nooo! Zoro, stop it! *cries*." Zoro (One Piece), Tezuka (Prince of Tennis), Inui, Fuji, Kaido, Watanuki (xxxHolic).... The list of my favorite characters found in DJs goes on and on. Oh, and I don't see what's wrong with identifying your favorite characters. Besides, even if he's not your favorite character, Hitsugaya is a distinct character in Bleach since he's the only child and he has white hair.

I've noticed a lot of people mentioned Elfen Lied. Lol, her brutalness didn't phase me too much but it does get a little uncomfortable for me. Now, Shingetsutan Tsukihime in the lastest chapter...that was brutal. I can't stand pictures of bodies mutilated with such details. That's why I really can't read MPD Psycho and Gantz.

Can't say I've ever really been scarred for life by manga (less you count Genshiken, but that was a combination of sever lack of sleep, food, dehydration and too much calculus gone bad). Only form of violence that ever really creeped me out and makes me queezy is the animatrix. God damn that animation style creeps me out. (this is of course not counting REAL viollence and mutilation)

Scariest manga i've read is God’s Left Hand, Devil's Right Hand. Especially when Sou hunted by eroded scissor wielding woman with her child.
