So, i'm extremely sick of all the typical shoujo leads who are obsessed with fashion, beauty and love. I want to read about something that i can relate more to, in this case about a girl who doesn't care about how she looks (at all) and if she does fall in love, not become all jealous and obsessive.

When it does come to the point where she falls in love with someone (and if she does), then i don't want her to change her image to "suit" him, or become prettier just because she's in love.

Also, if she does have one of those friends who are all like "you need to have sex with him" "you need to do this to look better" "love is everything" then she should just ignore them, and think nothing of it. Nothing pisses me off more than the lead getting all self-conscious cause of something their friend (or anyone else) says.

Introvert, recluse, schizoid, apathetic, maladaptive, carefree, loves food .. I don't know, a girl who is anything like what i've listed here is beyond great (:

edit.

[list of mangas i've read that may be recommended that i like:]
- Last Game
- Sukitte Ii Na Yo
- Koi Dano Ai Dano
- The Prince's Cactus
- Bijo ga Yajuu (It was okay.)
- Purikyuu
- Dengeki Daisy
Let's just say i've read/am reading every single one of Motomi Kyousuke Sensei's work :3

[list of mangas that i've read that may be recommended that i didn't like/just didn't get to me]
- Mishounen Produce
- Watashi Ni XX Shinasai!
- Ouran High School Host Club

Sounds like you could take a dose of Watashi Ni XX Shinasai!
The femal lead is only interested in love as a literary topic, so she black mails a guy to simulate love. But she is more interested in writing, so you can expect thatwhen a great dramatic moment should come, she uses that to jot down a few notes.

Also, Perfect Girl Evolution might be very suitable, since the MC is a horror nerd and doesn't give a damn about the pretty people, and the bishounen who try to make look nice are only doing it because they do not have to pay rent if they sucdeed.

And finally, Ouran High School Host Club.
Which you honestly should already know by now. Haruhi is the most level-headed girl you'll see.

Although no 'love' is involved yet, Koi Dano Ai Dano should fit. I don't think she'd change when they finally get together.

Beauty is The Beast (just a really, really weird character, totally hilarious)

Hot Blooded Woman (clueless to love and fashion)

Beauty Pop (very apathetic)

Purikyuu (not looking for love, it is funny and quite short)

Otokomae Beads Karabu (looking for love, but an alternative girl)

Shiawase Kissa 3-choume (aka Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume) this is a long time favourite of mine.

They, Too, Love (didn't make much of an impression on me and I can't really remember it)
Sora Log (i did like it, but my memory doesn't serve me all that well)

Check out my lists, high rated ones generally don't have moronic girls in them.

Perhaps Fly High! (Author : Oouchi Natsumi)
She is clueless and doesnt know much about love since.. well...she was kinda trained as a guy...
Summary
Meru Tachibana, 12 years old. She's just returned back to Tokyo after 7 years of training with her father, who thought she was a boy! Now Meru is stronger than most guys, and she's doing her best to make sure that people don't find out, or else her chances of making friends is ruined! However, a group of eighth graders seem insistant on making that impossible, as they break the rules and pick on the weak. Will Meru be able to stop them as the new student council president without appearing to be a "Monster Melt King" as her mother has warned?
I guess this works none
Maybe Crash! ...I dont really remember much- but it was good

Maybe Last Game?
The female lead is kind of cold, bad at social life, and doesn't even notice the male lead's advance.

Summary:
Quote
He's rich, he's smart, girls gather around him all the time, and he has always gotten first place on his exams... well, until Kujou transferred in his primary school class. She was quiet, plain, and poor, yet not once has she failed at beating Yanagi, both in academics and sports! Yanagi has made it his life goal to defeat this girl Kujou, and ten years later, as they enter high school, he just might finally win! This is the story of their last game.

Quote
about a girl who doesn't care about how she looks (at all) and if she does fall in love, not become all jealous and obsessive.

The female lead doesn't care about fashion to the point where the male lead tell her she's dull and whatnot. She subconsciously jealous of other girl but not being all obsessive over it. She just doesn't know she's in love.

Even though it's a shoujo manga, It's told from the guy's POV.
Oh, the guy become all jealous and obsessive. So...

Dengeki Daisy is amazing.
the romance is natural, and the plot isn't revolved around building the romance so theres no cliche jealousy, triangles, personality changes, thinking he doesn't like her, blah blah blah blah.
but the romance is very important in order to make the real purpose of the plot even better.

I have to agree with Skip Beat and Beauty Pop
Also Warau Kanoko-sama and its sequel Koi dano ai Dano
Also 1/2 Prince is awesome but I don't know if it's considered shoujo....

I think Gokuraku Seishun Hockey Bu fits the bill. Also, The Prince's Cactus.

Also, I third/fourth/whatever Koi Dano Ai Dano. It's one of my favorites, currently.

well, i hated watashi ni xx shinasai. i actually was reading it last year or so, but i dropped it a few months later. i had only forced myself to read it because i loved akira, but still, i didn't love him enough to continue reading it.

perfect girl evolution; i've actually watched a bit of the drama, and i think it's kinda interesting, so i'll check it out!

and yes, i do know of ouran high, but to be honest, i wasn't the biggest fan of it. i've watched the anime, but it just didn't get to me. really, the only thing i liked about this was the twins. that's it. it was an okay anime, but no where near a favourite of mine.

@fateoffate
i'm actually currently reading this! i love it (:

@aclgrafix
i will try this out, seeing as you have recommended it -i have been brushing the manga aside for years now, cause of the cover and summary-

@bamba4life
okay, so i just read Warau Kanoko-sama and the sequel recently, and i LOVE it! it is exactly what i was looking for! i don't know why i kept dropping it before (i think it was because there was so much text in the first two pages), but seriously, the female lead is awesome! she is so cool!

@Snakering
The Prince's Cactus was one of the first manga i decided to read from this recommendation post! and i really liked it, thank you (:

Yeongsuui Bom is a great manga. It's about a guy liking this girl that is REALLY PRETTY! but she drools and never brushes her hair, sleeps in class, picks her nose and stuff like that. it's new but it's great. it's from a guy's perspective tho. bigrazz
