Is this any good, btw? What kind of series would be similar to this in terms of the plot or genre or experience?

This is from the 80's, back when Shounen Sunday still wasn't sure what exactly they were looking for when it came to best sellers. Admittedly, the manga has no plot, and is episodic and it's primarily a comedy with some action and ecchi thrown in. If you like Ninja stuff like Naruto or Fuusuke, you'll enjoy Sasuga no Sarutobi/The Academy of Ninjas.
